Chief Accountant

Our client is a well-established investment company with a strong presence in the real estate sector across Bulgaria and international markets spanning three continents. As part of its continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and hands-on Chief Accountant to join the team.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of the company's financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and the effective execution of all accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day accounting activities of the company and its related entities
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures in accordance with Bulgarian accounting and tax legislation
• Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and quality of financial records and accounting information
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with IFRS and National Accounting Standards
• Prepare and submit VAT returns, annual tax declarations, statutory reports, and other regulatory filings
• Prepare and review management reports, budgets, and cash flow forecasts
• Participate in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and group reporting packages
• Support annual financial audits and act as a key contact for external auditors and tax authorities
• Maintain compliance with applicable accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements
• Monitor legislative changes and contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls

Main Requirements:

• At least 5 years of experience in a Chief Accountant or similar senior accounting position
• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
• Proven experience in independently managing the full accounting cycle
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, National Accounting Standards, and Bulgarian tax legislation
• Experience with the preparation of consolidated financial statements
• Previous experience in a real estate, investment, construction, asset management, or holding company environment will be considered an advantage
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet demanding deadlines
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with accounting and ERP systems
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional integrity
