Financial Reporting Accountant

Our client is a leading international insurance company with a strong presence across the CEE region and a significant presence in the Bulgaria market.

As a Financial Reporting Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing financial statements, supporting accounting and reporting processes, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial information. The role involves close collaboration with local and international finance teams and provides an opportunity to work within a dynamic global insurance environment.

Main responsibilities:

• Perform accounting activities related to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
• Prepare financial reports, reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance with internal policies and IFRS requirements
• Support the preparation of financial statements and regulatory reporting packages
• Analyze financial data and investigate variances, ensuring accuracy and completeness of reported information
• Perform account reconciliations and maintain proper documentation of financial transactions
• Support insurance-specific reporting processes and financial analysis
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
• Collaborate with finance teams across different countries to ensure timely and accurate reporting
• Support internal and external audit processes
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to finance transformation initiatives

Desired experience, skills and qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, auditing or a similar finance role in an international environment
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting processes
• Good understanding of IFRS standards
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills with ability to meet deadlines
• Good knowledge of MS Excel
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
• Fluent in both English and Bulgarian.

Considered an advantage:

• Previous experience in insurance, banking, Big Four, or another regulated financial environment
• Good knowledge and understanding of IFRS 17
• Experience with SQL
