About the job Factoring Operations Manager
Our client is a Singapore-based financial services group expanding its receivables financing and factoring capabilities in Malaysia. They are seeking an experienced Factoring Operations Manager to oversee and review the end-to-end factoring operations, ensuring strong governance, risk control, and compliance standards.
This role will act as a key control function, providing oversight on funding execution, collections, and operational processes, while ensuring adherence to approved credit terms and internal policies. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining portfolio integrity and supporting scalable, well-controlled business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and review end-to-end factoring operations, ensuring accuracy in invoice verification, eligibility checks, and disbursement processes
- Review and approve funding requests, ensuring compliance with approved credit terms, facility limits, and internal controls
- Provide oversight on debtor verification and notice of assignment processes, ensuring enforceability of receivables
- Oversee client onboarding processes, including review of KYC, documentation, and system setup (facility limits, advance rates, debtor profiles)
- Monitor portfolio utilisation and ensure adherence to approved structures, limits, and policies
- Review accounts receivable ageing, reconciliation, and cash allocation, ensuring accuracy and timely identification of discrepancies
- Oversee collections activities and ensure appropriate follow-ups, dispute resolution, and escalation of overdue accounts
- Monitor operational and fraud risks, including duplicate financing, fictitious invoices, and concentration risks, and ensure proper escalation and mitigation
- Provide oversight on credit control processes, including exception handling and management of recourse vs non-recourse exposures
- Review and analyse portfolio reports, including ageing, utilisation, and risk indicators, and provide insights to management
- Establish and enforce SOPs, internal controls, and turnaround time (TAT) standards to ensure operational efficiency and compliance
- Ensure adherence to AML/CFT, KYC, and regulatory requirements, maintaining audit readiness
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Credit, Finance, Legal, Sales) and provide guidance to the operations team where applicable
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience, with exposure to factoring, trade finance, receivables financing, or credit/loan operations
- Prior experience in a reviewer / checker / approval capacity within a financial institution, fintech, or non-bank lending environment preferred
- Strong understanding of factoring structures, including recourse and non-recourse arrangements
- Solid knowledge of accounts receivable, collections, and credit control processes
- Familiarity with AML/CFT, KYC, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Strong analytical, risk management, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to engage internal teams and clients
- Experience with factoring systems, loan management platforms, or ERP systems is an advantage
- Prior team leadership or supervisory experience is preferred
