Job Title: Senior Credit Manager

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Role Overview

The Senior Credit Manager will lead the credit function for Malaysia, overseeing credit evaluation, portfolio risk management, and policy governance across hire purchase (auto & equipment), floor stock financing, and related lending products. The role involves managing a team, ensuring adherence to credit policies, and supporting business growth through sound risk assessment and timely decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

1. Credit Assessment & Approval

  • Evaluate and approve credit applications for hire purchase (auto & equipment) and floor stock facilities within delegated authority limits
  • Review financial statements, bank statements, CCRIS/CTOS reports, and other supporting documents
  • Assess borrower and guarantor repayment capacity, leverage, and overall risk profile

2. Portfolio & Risk Management

  • Monitor portfolio quality, including delinquency trends, concentration risk, and early warning signals
  • Work closely with Collections to manage high-risk accounts, restructuring, and recovery strategies

3. Policy & Governance

  • Implement and enforce credit policies, SOPs, and risk frameworks
  • Recommend enhancements to credit policies (e.g. LTV thresholds, approval matrix, risk controls)
  • Ensure compliance with internal audit requirements and regulatory standards

4. Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the credit team, including Credit Executives and Managers
  • Review and validate credit recommendations prepared by team members
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and turnaround time of credit decisions

5. Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with Sales, Operations, and Credit Control teams to support business objectives while maintaining risk discipline
  • Provide clear credit guidance to business units on structuring and deal viability
  • Escalate exceptions and high-risk cases to senior management where required

6. Systems & Process Improvement

  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives (e.g. credit workflow systems, data analytics, straight through approval)
  • Ensure proper documentation and audit trails in credit systems

Requirements

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of relevant credit experience, preferably in auto and equipment financing
  • Working knowledge and practical experience in KYC/AML requirements (e.g. CDD, name screening, ongoing monitoring)
  • Proven track record in credit approval and team management
  • Strong analytical skills with sound credit judgment
  • Good understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
