Were currently recruiting an Allocation & Mobility Officer to join a leading South London council, supporting its vital housing services and community initiatives.
The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional with strong customer service, case management, and organisational skills, ideally within the public sector or housing environment. Youll play a key role in the Allocations Team, helping residents find suitable homes and supporting vulnerable individuals through the A Home That Fits initiative a programme designed to assist tenants moving to smaller, more suitable accommodation. The role is both challenging and rewarding, offering the chance to make a tangible difference in peoples lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage lettings and re-lettings in line with the councils housing policies and lettings plans
- Support tenants with complex rehousing needs, ensuring clear communication throughout the process
- Promote and coordinate the A Home That Fits downsizing initiative
- Proactively manage caseloads from start to completion
- Liaise with housing providers, support agencies, and internal departments
- Maintain accurate case records and produce high-quality written reports
- Assess and match clients to suitable housing options
- Ensure all work complies with legal, policy, and safeguarding frameworks
About You
Proven ability to work independently and manage complex caseloads
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organisational and time management abilities
Empathetic, resilient, and professional when supporting vulnerable individuals
Basic understanding of housing allocations (training provided)
Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
