Caretaker

ANT Recruitment is proud to be supporting a trusted housing and facilities management provider in their search for a Caretaker to join their dedicated on-site estates and building services team. This hands-on role is perfect for someone who thrives in a practical, varied environment and is committed to creating clean, safe, and well-maintained spaces for residents, staff, and service users.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections of internal and external communal areas.
• Carry out basic maintenance tasks such as minor plumbing, joinery, and painting.
• Support site security by unlocking/locking doors, monitoring alarms, and responding to incidents.
• Ensure refuse areas are tidy and bins are managed for collection.
• Assist with setting up spaces for meetings or events.
• Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and service visits.
• Act as point of contact for contractors and tradespeople on site.
• Respond to emergencies such as floods, fire alarms, and safety hazards.
• Engage positively with tenants, staff, and other visitors on site.

What Were Looking For

• Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or site-based role.
• Practical knowledge of basic DIY, minor repairs, and general maintenance.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
• Awareness of Health & Safety best practices (certifications desirable).
• A positive, solution-focused approach to resolving day-to-day issues.
• Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks including lifting and cleaning.
• Willingness to undergo a DBS check if required, depending on the placement.
