ANT Recruitment is proud to be supporting a trusted housing and facilities management provider in their search for a Caretaker to join their dedicated on-site estates and building services team. This hands-on role is perfect for someone who thrives in a practical, varied environment and is committed to creating clean, safe, and well-maintained spaces for residents, staff, and service users.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily inspections of internal and external communal areas.
- Carry out basic maintenance tasks such as minor plumbing, joinery, and painting.
- Support site security by unlocking/locking doors, monitoring alarms, and responding to incidents.
- Ensure refuse areas are tidy and bins are managed for collection.
- Assist with setting up spaces for meetings or events.
- Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and service visits.
- Act as point of contact for contractors and tradespeople on site.
- Respond to emergencies such as floods, fire alarms, and safety hazards.
- Engage positively with tenants, staff, and other visitors on site.
What Were Looking For
- Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or site-based role.
- Practical knowledge of basic DIY, minor repairs, and general maintenance.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
- Awareness of Health & Safety best practices (certifications desirable).
- A positive, solution-focused approach to resolving day-to-day issues.
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks including lifting and cleaning.
- Willingness to undergo a DBS check if required, depending on the placement.
