Were currently recruiting an Environmental Health Officer Health Protection for a local authority team in Shropshire, supporting vital community facing public health work.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in environmental health, public protection or regulatory inspection who wants to work in a challenging, meaningful role. You'll enforce and support health protection legislation, investigate environmental health issues (such as infectious diseases, nuisance, public safety) and work collaboratively to protect the wellbeing of local communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and respond to health protection incidents and environmental hazards
  • Conduct inspections, audits and sample taking where required
  • Provide advice and guidance to businesses, residents and partner agencies
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare reports and support enforcement actions
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders
  • Analyse data/trends around environmental risks and support improvements
  • Support emergency response or out-of-hours functions if needed

About You

Degree in Environmental Health or relevant qualifications/experience
Previous experience in environmental health, housing, enforcement, or public protection
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Highly organised with the ability to manage a varied caseload
A full UK driving licence is desirable
Passion for protecting communities and enforcing public health standards

Salary: £32,000 £38,000 (based on experience)
