Were currently recruiting a Electrician to join a major housing&maintenance team within a local authority environment.
The Opportunity
This is a key frontline role within the housing maintenance/repairs service, offering you the chance to apply your electrical expertise in a social housing or publicsector setting. You will carry out installation, maintenance, testing and certification work across properties, ensuring safety, compliance and high standard service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installations, repairs, testing (EICR, PAT, emergency lighting etc.) and certification in domestic and communal properties
- Ensure all electrical work complies with current legislation (e.g., BS7671), regulations and council policy
- Diagnose faults, undertake remedial work and liaise with contractors or internal stakeholders to plan major works
- Maintain accurate records of work, materials, testing outcomes and signoffs
- Work safely in occupied premises, ensuring minimal disruption to residents and delivering highquality customer service
- Participate in emergency/outofhours rota if required (depending on employer)
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support team efficiencies
About You
Qualified Electrician: NVQ Level3 or equivalent in Electrotechnical/Installation & Testing and 18th/17th Edition (or latest) qualification
Experience in domestic/social housing or local authority repairs environment preferred
Strong faultfinding and diagnostic skills, experience with inspection & testing regimes
Full UK Driving Licence desirable (for property visits)
Excellent recordkeeping, communication and customerservice orientation
Ability to work independently, manage workload and respond to priorities
