ANT Recruitment is working in partnership with a progressive West London local authority to recruit a Strategy Lead a senior leadership opportunity at the heart of the councils transformation agenda.

As the strategic brain behind the organisations policy direction, youll drive evidence-based decision-making, oversee cross-cutting strategic initiatives, and ensure alignment with both local priorities and national frameworks. The ideal candidate will be comfortable navigating complex political landscapes, leading transformation programmes, and embedding long-term value through innovative policy design and delivery.

This is a high-profile, visible role within the senior leadership team ideal for a dynamic, forward-thinking professional with experience in leading strategic planning across diverse service areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of the Councils overarching corporate strategies and strategic frameworks.
  • Translate political priorities into actionable strategies that deliver real outcomes for communities.
  • Provide insight-driven policy advice to senior officers and elected members.
  • Drive and manage high-impact cross-departmental projects and transformation programmes.
  • Oversee corporate reporting, business planning cycles, and strategic governance processes.
  • Lead a small team of strategy officers, providing coaching, guidance, and performance oversight.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, evidence-based policy-making, and innovation.

Person Specification

Were looking for someone with:

  • A proven track record of strategic leadership in a complex organisation (e.g., local government, housing, health, or broader public sector).
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary projects with corporate significance and cross-cutting impact.
  • A deep understanding of UK public sector governance, regulatory compliance, and emerging reform agendas.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels, including elected members.
  • Experience of embedding resident or stakeholder engagement into strategy and service design.
  • A degree in public policy, business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
