About the Role
ANT Recruitment is assisting a respected social housing organisation in County Durham to recruit a Maintenance Operative. You will play a key role in ensuring that communal areas and external estate spaces remain clean, safe and well maintained. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive team working to enhance communities and deliver quality service in a social housing setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain communal areas and external estate zones: litter removal, fly tipping clearance, estate tidying
- Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of shared spaces (paths, gardens, bins areas)
- Remove furniture, rubbish or bulk items from void and communal properties
- Support general maintenance tasks: basic repairs, painting, decorating, as required
- Maintain accurate records of work carried out, report issues and engage with colleagues to enhance operational delivery
- Contribute to health & safety and resident facing standards across the estates
About You
Previous experience in estate maintenance, grounds or communal cleaning/maintenance roles
Able to work proactively and independently, with a strong sense of accountability
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors and in varied conditions
Good communication skills and a team player mindset
A valid UK driving license is desirable (for travel between estate sites)
A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop in a social housing environment
