A propeller rumbles in the distance. You turn your head and gaze towards the horizon as you find yourself standing on the ledge of a steep drop with nothing but skies beneath you. An approaching gust throws you off balance and you feel as if youre about to tip over and down into the abyss. As your body jolts into action, correcting your stance, you hear a friend behind you scream "watch out!". A flying craft, the Wasp, bursts through the clouds and heads straight towards you, chased by a menacing creature whose wingbeat echoes across the skies. This, you realize, is how your Atmosfar begins.

As our Game Designer, you'll help design and improve the absolute core experience of Atmosfar through crafting interesting gameplay mechanics,  balance gameplay features and help guide and align the bigger picture of how various gameplay systems intertwine. The position is offered as a one (1) year project employment, with possibility of extension, in a hybrid work location setting meaning that you'll need to spend at least half of the working week at our office in Malmö, Sweden.

About the position

What you will do

• Design, establish and hone emergent gameplay systems, systems-driven game design and PvE gameplay mechanics inline with the game's overall vision and design pillars
• Maintain and expand the underlying game design for established economy systems, crafting systems, technology trees and similar
• Balance game design features and game design mechanics based on studio and player feedback
• Playtest often to ensure that our design on paper translates properly into the game
  
• Diligently document your work across our project management pipeline
• Work in Unreal Engine

Who you are

• Proven experience working as a game designer
• Experience in creating strong game concepts, pitching your ideas and leading them through execution
• Good understanding of highly balanced game systems and economies and a deep understanding of player motivations
• Experience with collaborative game design
• Strong interest and belief in a data-driven approach to support and validate your intuition
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Interpersonal and organizational skills
• Proficient in written and spoken English
