Overview
Our client is a leading energy infrastructure company seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Engineer to join their Solar Energy Infrastructure team. This 12-month contract position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge utility-scale solar, BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), and power plant operations projects. The role combines remote flexibility with hands-on project leadership, requiring periodic travel to the Juno Beach, FL headquarters, particularly during the initial 3-6 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering assignments ranging from limited scope to advanced multi-disciplinary solar energy projects
- Perform project management duties including planning, organizing, and managing utility-scale solar infrastructure projects
- Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to safety standards across all project phases
- Conduct technical analysis and engineering oversight for solar, BESS, and power plant operations
- Lead technical teams and coordinate cross-functional project activities
- Support electrical/I&C engineering functions including electric distribution systems
- Ensure designs meet project specifications, safety standards, and long-term performance goals
- Assist with negotiations, performance tracking, and comprehensive project reporting
- Serve as an extension of the engineering team, providing technical expertise and guidance
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field)
- 11-15 years of engineering experience, with significant focus on solar energy infrastructure
- Proven experience with utility-scale solar projects and BESS systems
- Strong background in electrical distribution systems and power plant operations
- Experience leading technical teams and managing complex engineering projects
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements in the energy sector
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to travel to Juno Beach, FL as required (more frequent initially)
- Florida residency or willingness to relocate preferred
