Paralegal (Contract-to-Hire)

Overview

Our client is a leading, well-established law firm seeking a skilled and proactive Litigation Paralegal to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong understanding of civil procedure, discovery, and trial preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain, review, analyze, and summarize legal documentation, medical records, and case materials.
  • Manage all aspects of discovery, including drafting requests, tracking responses, and organizing document productions.
  • Schedule and coordinate depositions, hearings, and meetings with clients, experts, witnesses, and court reporters.
  • Identify, research, and evaluate potential expert witnesses; maintain and update expert databases.
  • File documents with state and federal courts, ensuring strict compliance with local rules and deadlines.
  • Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, and procedural issues.
  • Proactively manage case files, monitor deadlines, and take initiative to move cases forward.
  • Prepare draft pleadings, discovery documents, and correspondence for attorney review.
  • Accurately track and enter billable time daily, meeting a minimum billing requirement.
  • Perform non-billable functions such as training, mentoring, and committee participation as needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or a certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal, preferably in a defense or insurance-related firm.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Florida state and federal court rules, procedures, and filing requirements.
  • Proven experience managing the discovery process from start to finish.
  • High proficiency with e-filing systems (PACER, Florida Courts E-Filing Portal) and legal software (e.g., iManage, Relativity, CaseMap, Trial Director).
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and complex cases simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work on-site in West Palm Beach, FL.
