Principal Electrical Engineer

Overview of the Role:
Join a premier energy company as a Principal Electrical Engineer supporting critical capital projects at their Corporate office. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide technical expertise on cutting-edge nuclear power systems projects, working alongside industry-leading engineering firms to ensure the highest standards of safety and performance. You'll play a vital role in shaping the future of clean energy infrastructure while developing and reviewing engineering documentation that meets stringent regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical interface with engineering firms on project development and execution
 - Prepare and review engineering documents using applicable industry and nuclear regulatory standards
 - Develop stand-alone electrical calculations and procurement specifications
 - Prepare and verify design output documents including design changes, calculations, and specifications
 - Conduct independent design verification for internally developed design changes
 - Apply knowledge of 10CFR50.59 screening and evaluation processes
 - Interface with project teams to ensure technical compliance with nuclear industry standards
 
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Professional Engineering certification strongly preferred)
 - Minimum 12 years of nuclear experience in US nuclear power plants
 - Deep knowledge of power systems engineering principles and applications
 - Proficiency with electrical equipment: molded case circuit breakers, motor starters, low/medium voltage breakers and switchgear, battery systems, EDGs, transformers, generators, and voltage regulators
 - Strong understanding of nuclear industry standards and design processes
 - Experience with independent design verification methodologies
 - Knowledge of electrical schematics and power systems documentation
 - Preferred: Experience with NSCA/safe shutdown analysis (Appendix R/NFPA 805), power systems analysis tools (ETAP, EDISON), and ladder logic
 - Preferred: Prior cognizant/oversight engineering or engineering project management experience
 - Must have predominantly design/project engineering experience rather than project management focus
