Project Manager - Energy Storage


Location: Juno Beach, Florida or Remote
Contract Duration: 12 Months

Overview of the Role:

The Utility Scale Energy Storage team is looking for an innovative and dynamic Project Manager who is passionate about renewable energy. In this position you will be heavily involved with battery augmentation projects from conception through execution, to include exposure to cross-functional teams across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple concurrent high-volume battery augmentation projects from start to finish
  • Manage multiple concurrent high volume battery augmentation projects from conception through execution, working closely with Power Generation, Business Management, Engineering and pre-construction and construction project managers
  • Lead early-stage project efforts, including storage sizing, scope of work definition and schedule creation
  • Coordinate key functions such as financial feasibility analysis, engineering/design review,resource analysis, legal/tax review, and contracting
  • Lead efforts in brownfield permitting, interconnection agreement modification, andconstruction RFPs
  • Support energy storage strategies through technical and market analysis
  • Develop models and dashboards designed to improve management of projects, enhance team collaboration and identify valuable insights to maximize the benefit to all stakeholders
  • Support the composition of contractual arrangements for project development
  • Ensure compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
  • Support detailed design engineering of major components for augmentation projects
  • Collaborate with suppliers to successfully integrate major equipment
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplined teams for problem solving, process improvement opportunities, and system integration and controls
  • Identify value engineering opportunities.
    

Preferred Work Experience 

  • An SME in substation or utility scale energy storage design and/or project management, with established expertise in one or more of the following areas including Power electronics, Battery storage system design, Substation design, and Generation tie design
  • Management and/or operation of large-scale projects
  • Demonstrated experience and skill managing technical and financial aspects of a large-scalefleet, including influence of maintenance, CAPEX, O&M spend or daily operations strategy
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of construction methods, including foundations, trenching,electrical terminations and testing, and best safety practices
  • Strong knowledge of technologies in energy storage including varying battery chemistries,power conversion units and DC-DC converters
  • Lithium-ion battery storage safety: familiarity with UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA70E, NEC, applicable IFC/IBC sections
  • Familiarity with interconnection studies and GIA material modification adjustment (MMA)processes, particularly in WECC and CAISO
  • Construction permitting and contracting experience
