About the Role

Join a passionate, world-class team dedicated to building the next generation of mobile video experiences. We're crafting a seamless, high-performance video playback experience optimized for low-bandwidth conditions and mobile environments. As a Senior Mobile Video Playback Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping our video architecture and bringing it to life with scalable, efficient code and strategic technical leadership.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance mobile video playback solutions using Swift, Kotlin, and C++.
• Take technical ownership of the mobile video experience, from architecture to implementation, ensuring optimal playback quality in challenging network conditions.
• Utilize lower-level frameworks such as AVFoundation, VideoToolbox, or platform-equivalent technologies to achieve precise frame-level control and synchronization.
• Collaborate across teams to define video playback strategy, troubleshoot issues, and drive new capabilities.
• Write clear and concise documentation, and present your work to peers, stakeholders, and technical leadership.
• Continuously push for low complexity and high-performance designs that scale.

Who You Are

• A senior-level engineer with 8+ years of hands-on experience in video playback technologies.
• Experience in music streaming services, digital music platforms, streaming services, or music apps is highly valued as we continue to innovate in how listeners discover and engage with audio content.
• Deeply familiar with the end-to-end video pipeline: ingestion, encoding, decoding, delivery, and rendering.
• Experience working with CMSampleBuffer, AVSampleBufferDisplayLayer, AVSampleBufferRenderSynchronizer, or similar technologies on other platforms.
• Experience with Apple's VideoToolbox or equivalent low-level media frameworks.
• Proven ability to work at the frame level to ensure precision playback control.
• Strong understanding of streaming protocols, video codecs, and media container formats.
• A technical leader who loves to code and guide teams through strategy and execution.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Bonus: C++ proficiency is a strong plus.
