JOB PURPOSE
Responsible to review companys contracts and provide sound legal advice, through the guidance of the GC, on various legal matters, to ensure compliance with the legal framework associated with its business operations to safeguard the interests of Arajet and support the achievement of corporate goals.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Regulatory Compliance
- Oversee the enterprise compliance with frequent foreign requirements and obligations after obtaining operating licenses to secure regular operations and transportation service of the company.
- Oversee the company branch offices' compliance with continuous corporate duties arising from their registration abroad. The frequent obligations may include updating corporate changes with corporate authorities and manage the payments of corporate taxes.
- Examine the legal issues and consequences related to new products and marketing initiatives to guarantee compliance with local regulations and shield the company against risks and contravening the law.
- Apply for operating licenses or permits with international civil aviation authorities in those countries where corporate structure or hiring foreign lawyers are not requirements to allow the company to conduct new business and offer transportation services.
- Represent and act as the focal point of the airline with foreign civil aviation authorities in countries where the company doesnt have legal representation to meet conditions concerning the operating license, support business interests, and support shaping the company services when necessary (e.g. registering new slots and schedules).
Contract Negotiation
- Review contracts and negotiate new business partnerships with vendors and subcontractors to ensure the fulfilment of corporate policies, mitigate disadvantages in business partnerships, and guide different company departments on legal concerns.
Legal Risk
- Contribute to special projects of the company when required, such as immigration matters in the scope of regular operations, to protect the company against fines, civil liability suits, human rights violations, and the compliance of the airline's responsibilities according to the law of the place.
Legal Operations
- Hire and coordinate the legal process with foreign lawyers to apply for international operating licenses and permits, including establishing branch offices (when necessary), to allow the airline to develop business and offer transportation services.
- Support the GC with administrative issues, including drafting and tracking the expenses according to the annual assigned budget to the Legal Department to support the financial standing and internal control in the company.
Operational Excellence
- Contribute to the revision and identify improvements, proposes amendments to the existing company policies, communicate any changes in legislation to the relevant departments to take action and amend polices/procedures/practices and provide support and legal advice to the departments to comply with laws, regulations, etc.

- Operate within the Legal team, embracing teamwork to collectively achieve high performance standards in the execution of related tasks.
- Take ownership for self-development and knowledge sharing among peers to enhance know-how and overall performance within the team.
Regulatory and Other
- Ensure compliance in own area and across Arajet with policies and regulations where applicable in order to safeguard the company from any high-risk audit findings, regulatory breaches and company exposure with negative financial implications.
- Any other duties and accountabilities as assigned by the GC and Senior Management.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Law.
- LLM is a plus.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant and developmental experience with a proven experience as legal corporate manager.
- In-depth knowledge of the industrys standards and regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of corporate and aviation law and regulations.
- A business acumen partnered with a dedication to legality.
- An analytical mind able to identify and address the complexities of legal procedures and regulations.
- Methodical and analytical abilities.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong presentational skills
- Excellent standard of Spanish (written, conversational and comprehension).
- Proficiency in English (written, conversational and comprehension).
- Good computer literacy.
