Montis Group is creating a new breed of authorised and fully regulated post-trade utilities that enable financial institutions and investors to process digital securities globally, alongside traditional securities delivering the market infrastructure required for digital securities to fulfil their true potential.

Montis is a subsidiary of Archax Holdings, which includes the first ever digital securities exchange (MTF) regulated by the FCA in London. Targeted at institutions, Archax also has its FCA brokerage, custody, and crypto-asset permissions.

The role

We are looking for a highly dynamic, driven senior executive to join our start-up group to help drive our new digital Central Security Depositories (CSDs) businesses forward across multiple areas. The ideal applicant will evidence a history in executing ambitious plans and be experienced in working with transformational initiatives in financial markets and/or start-up FinTech businesses.

You will roll up your sleeves to produce and deliver as well as managing a small team. The role will embrace a wide remit spanning the delivery of legal, governance, operational, regulatory, financial and technology activities, within a small (but growing) matrix organisation. The scope of services extends across multiple financial markets with staff being hired in several jurisdictions, providing the opportunity to drive change across a dynamic, vibrant team.

You will have experience of working in wholesale capital markets, ideally at a CSD or in a Custodian environment and be a team player with excellent people skills. Having some experience of a start-up organisation would be valuable as would having a deep interest in blockchain, tokenisation, smart contracts and related FinTech.

The start-up nature of the role would suit a candidate willing to be adaptive and agile, interested in the impact of their work and able to take responsibility for delivering an outcome rather than ticking the box.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • A leading Senior Management Team member with direct business oversight;
  • Manage the execution of the business plans for multiple group companies;
  • Develop strategies to support multiple authorisation applications;
  • Oversee agreed implementation, Go-Live and post Go-Live plans for prospective regulated entities;
  • Negotiate legal contracts and address CoSec/investor relations matters;
  • Produce marketing and regulatory materials, including Investor Decks;
  • Prepare Board reports;
  • Liaise with regulators, lawyers, other third parties and all internal functions;
  • Review and refine applications and reports to competent authorities;
  • Respond to escalation requests for information from competent authorities;
  • Coordinate the internal workings of different teams;
  • Assist with the production and sign off for all policies and procedures;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned;
  • Promote and nurture a culture of high performance, integrity and ethics across the business; and
  • Advise the CEO on day-to-day business matters.

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 10 years experience working within the wholesale capital markets sector in a managerial role;
  • Experience of operating as a Chief of Staff or as a Corporate #2;
  • Able to analyse, interpret, refine, challenge and enrich people and information;
  • Degree or relevant industry qualifications is preferable;
  • Clear fit with corporate values;
  • Outstanding communications skills including strong written English and an ability to draft/review policies, processes, procedures and reports;
  • Excellent analytical skills, problem solving and solution-orientated thinking;
  • Self-starter, able to use initiative, work unsupervised and experienced in decision making;
  • Strong balance of EQ and IQ;
  • Ability to work under pressure and remain accountable; and
  • Energetic personality with the drive to effect change and develop relationships across all levels of the business.

Other required Skillsets/Traits:

  • Knowledge of the UK and EU capital markets environment, and upcoming developments in digital securities would be beneficial;
  • A passion for financial markets, regulated digital securities, crypto-assets, crypto-currencies and blockchain technology would be a strong advantage;
  • Commercially strong with legal/contractual experience;
  • Financial and accounting knowledge;
  • Spreadsheet and strong computational expertise;
  • Energetic personality with the drive to effect change and develop relationships across all levels of the business;
  • Excellent self-management skills; and
