The Product Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving products from concept through production. This role combines engineering principles, design expertise, and problem-solving skills to create innovative, functional, and manufacturable product solutions. The Product Design Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and product management to ensure products meet technical requirements, customer expectations, and business objectives.

This position operates fully remotely and requires strong technical communication and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop product concepts, components, and assemblies using CAD and engineering tools

Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation

Perform engineering analysis including tolerance studies, material selection, and performance evaluation

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into manufacturable designs

Support prototyping, testing, and validation of new products

Identify opportunities for product improvements, cost optimization, and quality enhancement

Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback into product iterations

Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety guidelines

Support production teams with technical troubleshooting and design adjustments

Maintain project timelines and communicate technical progress to stakeholders

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field

3–6 years of experience in product design, mechanical engineering, or product development

Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or similar)

Strong understanding of product development lifecycle and manufacturing processes

Knowledge of materials, tolerancing (GD&T), and design-for-manufacturing principles

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with prototyping and testing processes

Knowledge of simulation tools (FEA, CFD, or similar)

Experience designing consumer products, industrial equipment, or hardware systems

Familiarity with quality systems and regulatory compliance standards

Experience working with global manufacturing teams
