The Role
We are seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and engaging Middle School Mathematics Teacher to join the Mathematics Department. The successful candidate will teach Mathematics to students in Grades 6 - 8, helping them build strong numeracy, algebraic thinking, problem-solving skills, and mathematical confidence. The role requires a teacher who can support learners as they move from concrete mathematical understanding to more abstract concepts, ensuring they are well prepared for higher-level mathematics in High School. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to make mathematics accessible, challenging, and enjoyable for a diverse group of learners.

The School
Founded in 2016, the school is a well-established K12 international school located at the foot of YuQuan Mountain in Haidian District, an area known for academic achievement and its proximity to leading universities. The school offers a bilingual, internationally aligned curriculum combining Chinese and Western educational strengths. The Middle School provides a broad and balanced programme that emphasises inquiry, analytical thinking, creativity, and personal development, supported by strong academic pathways and extensive co-curricular opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
The teacher will plan and deliver high-quality Mathematics lessons across Grades 68, designing learning experiences that promote conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and real-world application. They will use a range of instructional approaches to meet diverse learning needs, incorporating manipulatives, digital tools, and inquiry-based strategies where appropriate. The teacher will support students as they build confidence in reasoning, communicating mathematically, and working collaboratively on problems. They will contribute to curriculum development, refine units to align with international standards, and help prepare students for internal assessments and transition to High School Mathematics. The role includes assessing student progress through tasks, quizzes, projects, and reflections, offering detailed feedback that guides improvement. The teacher will monitor learners who require additional support or further academic challenge and work closely with families and colleagues to ensure appropriate pathways. The teacher will contribute to mathematics clubs, competitions, enrichment activities, and whole-school events that celebrate numeracy and critical thinking. Collaboration with the Middle School team is essential, including shared planning, departmental meetings, cross-disciplinary initiatives, and participation in professional development.

Classroom Environment
The teacher will maintain a positive, organised, and intellectually stimulating learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions, explore ideas, and make mistakes as part of the learning process. They will promote respectful behaviour, active participation, and independent thought, ensuring that learning resources are used effectively and responsibly.

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should hold a degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field.

A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, state certification, or national teaching licence is required.
