The School

We are recruiting for a highly regarded international school in Indonesia, located on an impressive 44-acre campus in the vibrant city of Jakarta. The school is a welcoming, close-knit community representing over 50 nationalities, with students aged 2 to 18 years.

Situated in South West Jakarta, the school's state-of-the-art facilities support a rich educational experience from exceptional academic classrooms to outstanding arts, sports, and recreational amenities. The curriculum begins with the UK Early Years Framework, progresses through the English National Curriculum and inquiry-based learning in Primary, and transitions to the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP), and Career-related Programme (CP) in Secondary.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher of Individuals & Societies (Geography) to join the Secondary faculty. The successful candidate will teach across the MYP, DP, and/or CP programmes, inspiring students through inquiry-based learning and real-world geographic inquiry.

Key Responsibilities

1. Curriculum Delivery

  • Teach Individuals & Societies (Geography) to students (IB MYP, DP, and/or CP)

  • Design and deliver engaging, concept-driven lessons aligned with IB philosophy

  • Integrate physical and human geography concepts to explore global issues such as sustainability, urbanisation, climate change, and resource management

  • Encourage students to develop research, analysis, and fieldwork skills

  • Prepare students for internal and external IB assessments and examinations

2. Student Support & Assessment

  • Monitor, record, and evaluate student progress using varied formative and summative assessment methods

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support growth and academic success

  • Guide students through IB coursework, investigations, and extended research projects

  • Promote students skills in critical thinking, communication, and collaboration

3. Professional Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively within the I&S department and across the Secondary School

  • Contribute to curriculum planning, unit design, and IB subject moderation

  • Engage in professional dialogue and reflection to enhance teaching practice

  • Maintain positive communication with parents, students, and colleagues

4. Contribution to School Life

  • Participate in extracurricular and enrichment activities related to global studies, environment, or geography (e.g. Model United Nations, Eco Club, service projects, field trips)

  • Support whole-school events, trips, and community initiatives

  • Promote the mission and values of the school community

Candidate Profile

  • A relevant degree in Geography, Social Sciences, or a related field (required)

  • Certified teacher status or equivalent qualification (required)

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant teaching experience (required)

  • Experience teaching IB MYP and/or DP Geography (strongly preferred)

  • Excellent classroom management and interpersonal skills

  • A student-centred, inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning

  • Commitment to international-mindedness and inclusion
