The Classroom Teacher makes a full contribution to the provision of quality education programs in the school according to contractual conditions and specific tasks as described below:

Expected Work Hours:

8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (182 calendar days per year, including 2 Saturdays for Thai Culture and International Fair).

Responsibilities Include:

Teaching and Classroom Environment

    • Undertakes formal teaching expectations according to the schedule drawn up by the Principals or School Director.
    • May be requested to cover for absent teachers in the event of an emergency.
    • Carries out other related duties and responsibilities as reasonably requested by the Administrators within the limitations of the teachers contract.
    • Creates a positive and stimulating academic and social environment, ensuring that classrooms, furnishings, resources, and equipment are respected and looked after by students.
    • Ensures a safe learning environment for all students, including physical and social/emotional safety.
    • Is present when students are in the classroom.

Planning and Organization

    • Maintains an organized plan book with lesson articulation; Unit plans are maintained using the schools online platform.
    • Delivers content expectations in line with the schools curriculum and Mission Statement.
    • Differentiates lessons to accommodate a variety of learning styles in each classroom.
    • Keeps a full record and planner of all lessons, accessible to administrators and substitutes.

Professional Commitment

    • Participates in regular team meetings to discuss programs of study, teaching methods, assessment, equipment, and materials.
    • Carries out teaching-related tasks as requested by the Administration, including coverage for absent staff members during available planning times.
    • Participates in grade-level or subject-based field trips.
    • Supports the school and its programs in a professional and collegial manner.
    • Attends all school-sponsored events.

Collaboration

    • Works in collaboration with a classroom Teaching Assistant to create a harmonious learning environment for students.
    • Collaborates with program coordinators and participates in weekly grade level and department level meetings.

Curriculum Development

    • Advises and cooperates with colleagues in grade-level and specialist programs.
    • Contributes expertise to the development of educational programs.
    • Prepares teaching resources in response to changes in curriculum, student inquiry, and/or assessment.
    • Differentiates content based on student needs.
    • Contributes subject expertise to the development of cross-curricular activities.

Professional Development

    • Contributes to and participates in the appraisal process, including goal setting.
    • Participates in professional development activities as requested by the administration.
    • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the taught curriculum.

Student Assessment

    • Adheres to the school-wide assessment and evaluation policy.
    • Maintains appropriate assessment records accessible to administrators.
    • Writes reports as directed by administrators in a timely manner.
    • Consults with parents regarding their childrens progress.
    • Organizes and attends parent-teacher meetings as needed and requested.
    • Creates and manages student portfolios using the schools designated platform.

Pastoral Care

    • Forms part of a caring community providing necessary pastoral care and support for all students.
    • Encourages students to participate fully in the schools extra-curricular program.

Student Management

    • Collaborates with students to create and implement classroom essential agreements.
    • Ensures controlled management and safety of assigned classes or groups.
    • Creates and sustains an environment promoting student success campus-wide.
    • Ensures the safety and well-being of students at all times.
    • Informs the appropriate administrator of student misconduct following the progressive discipline plan outlined in the handbook.

Supervisory Duties

    • Undertakes school supervision duties as defined by the Administration, attending punctually and actively fulfilling the assigned role.

Administrative Responsibilities

    • Completes forms and records according to specified deadlines.
    • Monitors student attendance at school and class, reporting significant patterns to the appropriate administrator.
    • Ensures students pay attention to official communications from the school.
    • Maintains communication with families.
    • Carries out other administrative and organizational tasks as requested by the administration.

Extra-Curricular Activities

    • Contributes to the schools Activities Program as outlined in the contract.

Personal Conduct

    • Provides a good personal example to students in terms of attitudes, dress, manners, punctuality, attendance, and organization.
    • Helps create a united and effective professional team by exhibiting loyalty, tact, confidentiality, reliability, enthusiasm, efficiency, and hard work.
    • Exhibits respectful behaviors at all times, including respect for other cultures.
    • Dresses in appropriate attire as determined by the school dress code.

General

    • Helps fulfill the schools aims as expressed in its Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals.
    • Positively supports all aspects of school policy.

Working Hours:

  • The normal teaching day runs from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Teachers may be required to complete after-school duties as assigned. All full-time staff should be available on campus throughout the working day unless given specific permission by the relevant administrator or engaged in an official activity or illness.
  • The work of a full-time teacher cannot be confined to a rigid timetable or quantified by the number of hours worked. Teachers will spend whatever hours are necessary to fulfill their professional obligations and make a valid and worthwhile contribution to the total life of the school.
  • Staff are expected to attend all meetings and professional development offerings at times defined by the school.
  • Staff may be expected to support APIS activities outside the working week and be present during special weekend events or conferences.

Benefits Package

Teachers with a BA and 4 years of experience: $21,000

Teachers with an MA and 8 years of experience: $24,000

Important Salary Information:

  • The above salaries are NOT paid in US Dollars. They are paid in Thai Baht.
  • Currency fluctuations may cause the US dollar figures to be higher or lower at any point during the contract period than the figures indicated here.
  • The school has indicated that this currency is easily convertible to US Dollars or Commonwealth Currencies.

Benefits

  • Housing: On-campus housing for Main Boarding Campus employees.Housing Allowance of 8,000 baht for staff hired for the Primary Campus.
  • Moving Allowance: $200 (if recruited from overseas).
  • Settling In Allowance: $200 (in cash) if moving from overseas, given upon arrival.
  • Airfare: Approximately $1000 for those moving from overseas. Flights are provided at the beginning and end of the contract and annually when signing on for a 3rd year.
  • Leave: Sick Leave Days: 14 days.Personal Leave Days: 2 days. Bereavement Leave: Yes, up to 14 days for immediate family.
  • Children Tuition Benefits: One tuition per employee.
  • Other Benefits: Meals provided if you live on the Main Boarding Campus. Lunch provided if you work at the Primary Campus.

  • Health Insurance: Fully paid - Host country coverage only for the employee, 50% paid for spouse and dependents.
  • Life Insurance: No.
