The school is a bilingual IB World School situated in Muscat, Oman serving the local Omani community, as well as the bilingual expatriate community. The school is authorised to offer all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programs and the quality of its provision has been recognized with accreditation from the Council for International Schools (CIS).
We are actively seeking an experienced and passionate PYP Teacher to join the school. This role presents an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and holistic development of young learners within the framework of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).
Overview of the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated PYP Teacher to join our vibrant and internationally-minded school community. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, inquiry-based instruction in alignment with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework. The PYP Teacher will inspire students to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who embody the IB Learner Profile.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons that align with the PYP framework.
- Facilitate student learning through transdisciplinary themes and units of inquiry.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
- Incorporate formative and summative assessments to guide teaching and support student progress.
2. Curriculum Implementation
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and develop the PYP curriculum.
- Ensure the written, taught, and assessed curriculum aligns with IB standards and practices.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance learning experiences.
3. Classroom Environment
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Promote student agency and voice in the classroom.
- Foster the development of the IB Learner Profile attributes in students.
4. Communication and Collaboration
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Provide regular updates to parents on student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate actively in team meetings, collaborative planning sessions, and professional learning communities.
5. Professional Development
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance understanding and implementation of the PYP framework.
- Participate in workshops, conferences, and IB training sessions as required.
- Reflect on teaching practices to ensure continuous improvement.
6. Contribution to School Life
- Actively participate in school events, activities, and initiatives.
- Support the PYP Exhibition and other key components of the PYP.
- Contribute to a positive school culture and community.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Teaching certification, with a focus on the IB Primary Years Programme preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of teaching experience in a primary school setting.
- Familiarity with the IB PYP curriculum and philosophy.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
