We are collaborating with a renowned network of schools to appoint a Head Teacher for one of their flagship institutions in Jakarta. The position is set to commence in August 2024. Operating across multiple countries, including India, Indonesia, Myanmar, and South Korea, the group boasts a total of 13 schools. Head Teachers are entrusted with the overall responsibility for the seamless operation of the school, ensuring academic excellence among students, and effective management of the staff. This leadership role involves formulating strategic plans, overseeing school development, implementing marketing strategies, driving organizational change, and spearheading recruitment efforts. Successful Head Teachers lead, motivate, and manage staff through delegation of responsibilities, setting clear expectations and targets, and evaluating staff performance. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and shape the educational landscape within a globally recognized network of schools.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide professional vision and overall leadership and management for the school which secures its success and improvement, ensuring high quality education for all students and improved standards of learning and achievement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching & Learning

  • To encourage learning to be at the core of all activities related to the school
  • To monitor and evaluate the quality of learning and teaching in the school, ensuring that proper standards of professional performance are established and maintained.
  • To ensure that the progress of individual students is assessed, recorded, reported and supported
  • To encourage all staff to engage in continued professional development to benefit their own learning

People

  • To lead the selection and appointment of Teaching Staff & Non-Teaching Staff of the school
  • To deploy, manage all Teaching Staff and Non-Teaching Staff and allocating particular duties to them
  • To ensure that all employees receive info needed to carry out their professional duties effectively
  • To lead, support, challenge and develop staffs at all levels in order to secure and sustain continuous improvement
  • To ensure that the framework for staff appraisal is conducted in rigorous manners
  • To supervise and participate in arrangements for the appraisal of the teachers performance at school

School Development & Promotion

  • To promote a clear sense of vision, direction and intended outcomes in leading and managing the process of both strategic and school development planning
  • To establish, implement and review procedures for the promotion and marketing of the school, encouraging the involvement of the whole staff
  • To recruit and retain students, seeking to maintain and develop the academic standing of the school
  • To develop and sustain good relationship with feeder schools

Resources

  • To plan, manage, allocate and account for the human, financial and material resources of the school
  • To ensure with the school finance team and Finance Director clearly procedures for setting and controlling financial budgets and authority to decide
  • To ensure that the school complies with all statutory and regulatory requirements
  • To ensure that school health and safety policy is properly administered for the whole school community

Communications

  • To establish and maintain excellent communication throughout the school community, internally and externally
  • To maintain and further develop good relationships and communication within and beyond the school community in order to promote an understanding of and support for the aims, values and performance of the school
  • To develop and maintain contacts with other Heads and their schools, professional associations for the benefit of the school

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree
  • 5 -10 years of leadership experience in a school setting
  • Experience in an international school environment
  • Familiarity with international education standards and practices
  • Strong leadership qualities to inspire and motivate staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective engagement with students, parents, and the community
