About the job PE Teacher

Secondary School PE Teacher
Start Date: February 2026

The Role
We are seeking an energetic, skilled, and inspirational Secondary School PE Teacher with a clear specialism in Volleyball to join the Physical Education Department. The successful candidate will teach a full Secondary PE timetable while also leading the schools volleyball programme, developing students technical ability, tactical understanding, teamwork, and competitive performance. The role requires someone who can deliver high-quality PE lessons across Grades 612, promote a passion for sport and physical wellbeing, and play a central role in strengthening the schools volleyball pathway from recreational participation to competitive excellence.

The School
Founded in 2016, the school is a well-established K12 international school situated at the base of the historic YuQuan Mountain in Haidian District, an area renowned for academic excellence and its close links to major universities. The 200,000-square-metre campus includes modern teaching buildings, landscaped courtyards, and more than 140,000 square metres of green space. The school offers a bilingual, internationally aligned curriculum that blends Chinese and Western educational approaches. The Secondary School provides a broad and rigorous academic and co-curricular programme, with extensive opportunities in competitive sports, performing arts, leadership, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
The teacher will deliver engaging and physically demanding PE lessons that develop students fitness, motor skills, teamwork, and understanding of health and wellbeing. Across the Secondary School, they will plan and teach lessons that promote active participation and support learners of diverse physical abilities. As Volleyball Lead, they will design and coordinate a structured volleyball programme, including training sessions, team selection, match preparation, inter-school competitions, and long-term player development. They will mentor students who show advanced potential and ensure that both recreational and competitive pathways remain inclusive, safe, and well organised. The teacher will contribute to the refinement of the PE curriculum, support whole-school sports days and events, incorporate technology and data to enhance performance analysis, and ensure high standards of safety, supervision, and equipment management.

Student Support and Assessment
The teacher will monitor student progress through practical performance, skill demonstrations, fitness assessments, reflective tasks, and personal goal setting. They will provide constructive, individualised feedback that helps students build confidence, improve physical literacy, and develop a positive approach to health and exercise. Students requiring additional support or extended challenge will receive thoughtful guidance tailored to their needs.

Co-Curricular Contribution
The role includes active involvement in the wider sports programme, coaching after-school activities, supervising fixtures, and contributing to major sporting events. As the volleyball specialist, the teacher will elevate the profile of the sport across the school, support weekend tournaments when required, and help create a vibrant sporting culture that celebrates commitment, resilience, and teamwork.

Professional Collaboration
The teacher will collaborate with colleagues across the PE and Athletics Department to plan units, share best practice, and contribute to cross-curricular initiatives linked to wellbeing, nutrition, or sports science. They will engage fully in departmental planning, school events, and professional learning opportunities while contributing positively to a collegial and supportive staff environment.

Classroom and Sports Environment
The teacher will maintain a safe, organised, and motivating learning environment in both indoor and outdoor sports facilities. They will promote respectful conduct, fair play, and inclusive participation while modelling healthy lifestyle habits and a passion for sport.
