The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and student-focused Primary Science Teacher to join our Elementary School team. The successful candidate will teach science across primary grades, inspiring curiosity about the natural world while helping students develop foundational scientific thinking and inquiry skills. The role involves guiding young learners through engaging explorations of life science, physical science, and earth science concepts in ways that are accessible, creative, and age-appropriate.

The teacher will play an important role in nurturing curiosity, observation, experimentation, and problem-solving, helping students build strong early scientific understanding while developing confidence in asking questions and exploring the world around them.


The School

Founded in 2016, the school is a well-established K–12 international school located at the base of the historic YuQuan Mountain in Haidian District, Beijing — an area known for academic achievement and its proximity to major universities. Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

Teach engaging Primary Science lessons across Elementary grades.

Prepare creative lessons that introduce foundational concepts in life science, earth science, and physical science.

Encourage curiosity and scientific thinking through observation, questioning, and exploration.

Use age-appropriate experiments, demonstrations, and hands-on activities to support conceptual understanding.

Adapt teaching approaches to support different learning styles and developmental levels.

Curriculum Development

Contribute to the development and refinement of Elementary Science units to ensure alignment with international standards.

Collaborate with grade-level teachers to integrate science with literacy, mathematics, and inquiry-based learning.

Support the development of scientific thinking skills that prepare students for Middle School science programmes.

Student Assessment and Support

Assess student learning through projects, practical activities, class discussions, and written work.

Provide constructive feedback to support the development of scientific understanding and curiosity.

Identify students who require enrichment or additional support and provide appropriate guidance.

Co-Curricular Activities

Support STEM clubs, science fairs, and enrichment events that encourage curiosity and innovation.

Participate in school-wide initiatives that promote scientific exploration and environmental awareness.

Professional Collaboration

Work closely with Elementary colleagues on interdisciplinary learning projects and curriculum planning.

Participate in professional development activities and contribute to whole-school events and initiatives.

Classroom and Laboratory Management

Maintain a safe, organised, and stimulating learning environment.

Ensure that all experiments and demonstrations follow appropriate safety guidelines for primary students.

Manage science materials and resources responsibly.


Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements

A degree in a science-related field or in Primary Education.

A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, state certification, or national license (not TEFL/TESOL).

Experience teaching science at Primary or Elementary level.

A strong understanding of inquiry-based learning and early scientific development.


Remuneration and Benefits

The school provides a highly competitive package based on experience and qualifications.

Typical annual base salary ranges from USD $53,000 to $65,000, with additional bonuses and pension contributions.
