About the job PE Teacher - Primary

Primary School PE Teacher
Start Date: September 2026

The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and child-centred Primary School PE Teacher with a strong specialism in football to join the Physical Education Department. The successful candidate will teach PE across the primary grades while leading the schools football programme, developing foundational skills, teamwork, coordination, and a lifelong enjoyment of sport. The role requires someone who can introduce young learners to active, engaging physical education, build age-appropriate football skills, and inspire confidence while maintaining a safe, inclusive, and energetic learning environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to adapt activities for different developmental stages and to nurture both beginners and more experienced young players.

The School
Founded in 2016, the school is a well-established K12 international school located at the foot of YuQuan Mountain in the Haidian District, an area renowned for academic excellence and close links to leading universities. The large, modern campus includes specialist sports facilities, extensive green spaces, and a bilingual, internationally aligned curriculum that blends Chinese and Western educational philosophies. Within the Primary School, physical education plays an integral role in fostering holistic development, motor skills, confidence, and healthy lifestyle habits.

Key Responsibilities
The teacher will deliver joyful, well-structured PE lessons across the primary grades, introducing essential movement patterns, physical literacy, coordination, and teamwork. They will lead the schools primary football programme, planning age-appropriate drills, small-sided games, and training sessions that prioritise safety, participation, and progressive skill development. The role includes organising friendly fixtures or festivals, preparing students for school events, and fostering sportsmanship and positive play habits. The teacher will contribute to ongoing curriculum development, ensuring PE units align with international standards and developmental needs. Assessment will be based on observation, participation, practical demonstration, and individual progress, with verbal and written feedback supporting each childs confidence and growth. The teacher will support co-curricular sports activities, assist in whole-school sporting events, and collaborate closely with colleagues to promote wellbeing and active lifestyles across the Primary School.

Classroom and Sports Environment
The teacher will maintain a safe, organised, and positive environment for young learners, ensuring that lessons are developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and engaging. They will promote respectful behaviour, teamwork, perseverance, and enjoyment, helping students build confidence and a strong foundation for future physical activity and sport.

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should hold a degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a closely related field. A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, state certification, or national teaching licence is required. Experience teaching Primary PE is essential, along with a proven background in coaching or playing football. A strong understanding of early childhood and primary-age physical development is expected. Familiarity with international schools, student-centred approaches, and inquiry-based physical education will be considered advantageous.

Remuneration and Benefits
The school offers a highly competitive package that reflects experience and qualifications. Annual salaries typically range from USD $53,000 to $65,000, with additional bonuses and pension contributions. Teachers receive paid winter and summer holidays, all public holidays, and a contract completion bonus. Benefits include full relocation support, comprehensive international health insurance for the teacher and dependents, social and medical insurance, visa and work-permit support, and either on-campus accommodation or a generous housing allowance. The package also includes an annual airfare allowance, free meals on school days, and education benefits for dependent children aged 518. Staff enjoy access to excellent sports facilities including gym, swimming pool, football pitches, tennis courts, and other recreational spaces, as well as extensive professional development opportunities and a warm, collaborative staff community.

We Are Proud to Offer
A committed and friendly teaching team, supportive leadership focused on professional growth, a beautiful and modern campus with outstanding sports facilities, and a comprehensive salary and benefits package designed to support a rewarding and enjoyable teaching experience.
