About the School

We are recruiting for a highly regarded international school in Indonesia, located on an impressive 44-acre campus in the vibrant city of Jakarta. The school is a welcoming, inclusive community representing over 50 nationalities and providing education for students aged 2 to 18 years.

Situated in South West Jakarta, the campus offers outstanding facilities that support academic excellence, innovation, and wellbeing. The curriculum begins with the UK Early Years Foundation Stage, progresses through the English National Curriculum and inquiry-based learning in Primary, and continues into the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP), and Career-related Programme (CP) in Secondary. Individuals & Societies is a key academic area within the Secondary School, supporting students to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and an understanding of historical developments, global perspectives, and the forces that shape societies.

The Role

Following an increase in student enrolment, the school is seeking a Teacher of Individuals & Societies (History) to join the Secondary faculty from August 2026. This role offers the opportunity to teach History across the IB continuum, contributing to both the Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach IB Diploma History at Standard and Higher Level, alongside delivering inquiry- and concept-based learning within the IB MYP, particularly in Years 10 and 11. In addition to classroom teaching, the role includes acting as a form tutor within the Secondary School (Years 7–13), supporting students academic progress, wellbeing, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

The Teacher of Individuals & Societies (History) will plan and deliver engaging, concept-driven lessons aligned with IB philosophy, supporting students in developing historical inquiry skills, critical thinking, and the ability to evaluate historical evidence and perspectives. Teaching will encourage students to analyse key historical events, movements, and developments while considering multiple interpretations and global contexts.

The role involves assessing student progress using a range of formative and summative strategies, providing timely and constructive feedback, and supporting students through internal assessments and external examination preparation at Diploma level.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with colleagues within the Individuals & Societies faculty and across the Secondary School, contributing to curriculum planning, moderation, and professional dialogue. Participation in enrichment activities related to History, global affairs, or humanities is encouraged.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should hold a relevant degree in History or a related humanities discipline, along with a recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCE or equivalent. A minimum of five years relevant teaching experience is required. Experience teaching IB Diploma History is highly desirable, as is familiarity with IB MYP inquiry- and concept-based pedagogy.

The school is seeking a teacher with outstanding subject knowledge, a proven track record of high-quality classroom practice, and the ability to teach confidently across the Secondary age range. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm for exemplary teaching and learning, and a collaborative approach to working in an international school environment are essential.

  • Comprehensive international medical insurance (excluding the U.S.)

  • Housing and cost-of-living allowance

  • Relocation allowance

  • End-of-contract gratuity equivalent to 25% of annual base salary

  • All local tax obligations fully covered by the school
