Cost Accounting Manager / Senior Cost Accountant

Arkansas Talent Group is proud to exclusively partner with a Family Office/Private Equity Group in Little Rock to help them find a Cost Accounting Manager / Senior Cost Accountant. Client is open to hiring at a Manager or Senior Cost Accountant level depending on the candidate and their experience. This is a newly created position due to growth and the Cost Accountant will work in the Corporate Office and report directly for the Corporate Controller. The Family Office currently has ownership stake in several manufacturing companies throughout the USA and has plans for expansion through acquisitions. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the manufacturing operations by providing accurate cost analysis, identifying opportunities for cost savings, and contributing to strategic decision-making for multiple sites.

Duties would include:

• Generate and evaluate cost reports, including analyses of cost of goods sold (COGS), product costs, and variances
• Track and assess production expenses, identify cost patterns, and propose strategies to reduce expenses
• Compile periodic performance reports to evaluate the efficiency of manufacturing processes, departmental operations, and overall profitability
• Establish and update standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead expenses
• Conduct cost estimations and contribute insights for pricing new products and analyzing profitability
• Ensure accurate allocation of overhead costs across various operations
• Supervise and participate in inventory counts to maintain accurate inventory records and resolve discrepancies
• Review inventory transactions to confirm adherence to cost accounting principles and accuracy in inventory reporting
• Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts for the organization
• Provide insights on cost-saving measures by analyzing variances between budgeted and actual performance
• Maintain compliance with accounting regulations, company policies, and financial standards
• Support audit processes by supplying relevant financial data and documentation as required
• Collaborate with production, purchasing, and operations teams to understand cost factors and improve workflows
• Offer cost-related advice to senior management and other departments to aid decision-making
• Stay informed about advancements in cost accounting practices and industry trends
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and enhance reporting tools for better efficiency
• Perform additional tasks as needed, including managing accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) activities

Qualifications:

• Bachelors in Accounting or Finance
• CPA/CMA is a plus
• 3+ years of experience, progressive experience in cost accounting in Manufacturing for multiple plants
• Experience in M&A, Private Equity, is a huge plus
• Strong technical accounting skills and GAAP knowledge
• Strong communication skills to make presentations of findings to Executive Team
• NetSuite experience is a plus
• Experience with ERP systems and financial software; proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
