Controller- Construction

Arkansas Talent Group is seeking a Controller to join our client's growing construction company. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction and job cost accounting and leading an accounting team.

Summary of Position:

The Controller will be responsible to plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation of financial data for financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. To succeed in this role, you will need to effectively manage self and others, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Handle monthly and yearly close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations, G/L analysis.
  • Manage the monthly monitoring of the yearly budget and forecasts.
  • Work closely with the executive team and other departments to ensure the company-wide operation is efficient and effective.
  • Each month, assist with presenting owners with financial reports.
  • Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow-reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly Maintains internal controls to safeguard and mitigate risk to company assets.
  • Recommends and oversees financial objectives and policies
  • Recommends and implements improvement to efficiencies of financial processes
  • Prepares reports to forecast business activity and financial position
  • Responsible for assisting in all financial reporting and accounting including month end close, all related journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Responsible for fixed asset and capital expenditure reporting

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as an Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager, preferred.
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or another business-related field
  • Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of month-end closings
  • Working knowledge in ADP Workforce, Accounting software, Workers Comp, Excel, etc. Viewpoint experience is a plus.
  • Advanced credentials such as a Degree in Business Administration / MBA or Certified Accountant / CPA are a plus.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and social skills
  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus.
