Arkansas Talent Group is seeking a Senior Accountant for a large, established, and well-known trucking company in Little Rock, AR. This is a contract-to-permanent position offering the opportunity to join a respected industry leader with a strong regional and national presence. What You'll Do
- Lead and own significant portions of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and depreciation
- Manage freight revenue recognition, carrier settlements, and load-level margin analysis specific to trucking and logistics operations
- Reconcile operational data from the transportation management system (TMS) into the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Perform high-volume AR/AP, carrier-payment, and factoring reconciliations at freight-level transaction volumes
- Maintain and reconcile complex balance sheet accounts, investigating variances against prior periods, budgets, and established expectations
- Prepare comprehensive financial statements and supporting schedules for management review
- Serve as a primary contact for external auditors — prepare audit-ready workpapers, requested documentation, and respond to inquiries promptly
- Ensure full compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies across all assigned functional areas
- Support multi-entity accounting, including intercompany transactions, eliminations, and consolidations as needed
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, FP&A, and leadership to provide insights into cost trends, freight profitability, and margin performance
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities throughout the close and reporting cycle
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of month-end and year-end close responsibilities
- Experience in trucking, logistics, freight brokerage, or other transaction-intensive industries strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial statement relationships
- Proficiency with ERP systems and accounting software; experience with transportation management systems (TMS) a plus
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
