About the job Senior Financial Analyst (Internal Consultant)
Arkansas Talent Group is exclusively working with one of the largest Hospitals in the State of Arkansas to find a Senior Financial Analyst for their organization.
This is a newly created position due to growth in the company and will report directly to the Director of Decision Support. This Analyst will be mentored for a bigger role in the organization, so there is a ton of growth opportunity.
The Senior Financial Analyst is a key member of the Decision Support / Financial Operations team for a large, integrated health system, providing advanced financial analysis and consultative support to hospital operations leadership. This role is an advanced level position requiring strong prior experience in healthcare finance and close partnership with Finance Leadership in Corporate Finance.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis & Monitoring
- Perform monthly entity-level financial reviews and prepare summary reports for hospital and service-line leadership, highlighting key financial impacts, risks, and recommendations
- Lead detailed financial reviews and trend analyses at the department and service-line level to identify operational issues and performance improvement opportunities for hospital leadership
- Monitor volume and clinical/statistical trends across assigned hospitals or service areas, proactively flag anomalies, and provide follow-up analysis to support operational decision-making
- Review productivity output and labor/utilization metrics for assigned geographic/service areas and present insights on efficiency opportunities to finance and operations leaders
- Identify material items not reflected in the annual forecast commitment (e.g., new programs, payer shifts, regulatory changes) and communicate these to finance leadership for incorporation into system planning
Finance Support
- Support finance leadership in compiling and distributing formal supplemental reporting, including materials for quarterly board and executive-level presentations
- Coordinate with local hospital and system-level leaders to collect inputs required for Spring and Fall forecast cycles and other major budgeting and planning processes
Operations Support
- Perform ad hoc analyses and develop pro forma financial models to evaluate new clinical programs, capital projects, service-line expansions, and other operational initiatives
- Build and maintain training materials for New Leader Orientation focused on hospital financial management tools, reporting, and key performance indicators
- Provide both basic and advanced technical training and support to operations leaders on the effective use of financial tools, dashboards, and reports to manage hospital performance
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance of Business Administration
- At least five years of comparable experience in healthcare finance, decision support, or financial planning and analysis (FP&A) required; experience in a hospital or health system setting strongly preferred
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) and demonstrated financial and analytical capability
- Strong foundation in Financial Analysis and Financial Statement review
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with finance leadership and operational stakeholders at varying levels of financial acumen
