Arkansas Talent Group is partnering with a well-established Arkansas organization to identify their next Senior Accountant in Little Rock, AR.

This is a high-visibility role offering broad exposure across accounting, financial reporting, operations, and process improvement initiatives. Working closely with senior leadership, this individual will play a key role in supporting the organization's financial operations while gaining insight into how the business functions as a whole.

Unlike highly specialized accounting positions, this role provides the opportunity to work across multiple areas of the organization, participate in meaningful projects, and contribute to process improvements that directly impact the business. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, enjoys understanding the story behind the numbers, and wants to be involved in more than just the monthly close process

This role is being hired with succession planning in mind and offers the opportunity to quickly grow into future Controller responsibilities for the right candidate.

Duties will include:

  • Prepare and review account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies
  • Prepare journal entries, maintain supporting schedules, and support month-end and year-end close activities Analyze financial activity and transactions to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with company policies
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies, reconciling items, and operational variances
  • Assist with financial reporting, account analysis, and preparation of supporting schedules
  • Collaborate with accounting, operations, and other business units to understand transaction activity and its impact on financial reporting
  • Support audits and examinations by maintaining organized documentation and responding to information requests
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and projects focused on increasing efficiency and strengthening controls
  • Assist in maintaining internal controls and supporting compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to special projects and initiatives as the organization continues to grow and evolve

Ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 4+ years' progressive accounting experience; public accounting, financial services, or corporate accounting experience preferred
  • CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Ability to analyze financial information, identify issues, and recommend solutions
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments
  • Desire to learn the business, take ownership, and grow into increasing levels of responsibility
