About the job Materials Management Leader

The Materials Management Leader ensures that material administration and flow operations within the warehouse are conducted in accordance with established policies. They oversee functions such as material receipt, handling, warehouse control, inventory accuracy, deliveries to the production line, control of non-conforming materials, kitting, and shipments. This position manages subordinate personnel and is responsible for the accuracy, safe handling, storage, and protection of materials and personnel from beginning to delivery to shipments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience as a Materials Management Leader in an industrial manufacturing environment (maquiladora).
  • English: Professional level

Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Ensure the safety of personnel and material movements, adhering to safety rules, and utilizing proper safety equipment.
  • Provide support to the production team by managing accurate inventory levels, location, condition, identification, and timely delivery.
  • Establish goals for the team aligned with the overall strategy and evaluate their performance.
  • Develop all team members, particularly emphasizing potential or high-performing leaders.
  • Continuously implement improvements in internal logistics to ensure timely delivery of materials to production areas, meeting internal customer requirements.
  • Define and manage optimal inventory levels, maintaining part attributes in the SAP system.
  • Assist in the disposition and monitoring of slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy; monitor and control inventory adjustments, preparing monthly reports.
  • Execute cycle count plans and analyze inventory variation for monthly reporting.
  • Manage supplier consignment inventory programs, acting as the primary contact for these suppliers in operations.
  • Ensure receipt procedures comply with financial interests and quality standards.
  • Administer and resolve product non-conformities upon receipt, including coordinating returns to suppliers, processing debit notes, and adjusting inventory.
  • Resolve errors in SAP inventory and incorrect movements, conducting root cause analysis.
  • Maintain records and documents of receipts and shipments in accordance with regulations and control policies.
  • Establish effective controls to ensure proper product handling and zero defects during material maneuvers or movements.
  • Optimize space utilization in the plant, internal warehouse, and external warehouse.
  • Create inventory control processes to ensure improvements within the value chain.
  • Provide support to finance departments on any information required related to material inventory management.
  • Ensure individual and team activities strengthen sustainability, reduce environmental impact, minimize waste, energy, and water consumption, and maximize recycling programs.
  • Support an innovation culture by generating ideas to improve processes, methods, systems, or services.
  • Develop necessary warehouse operation reports in collaboration with IT during the initial phase.
  • Perform other activities directed by management.
