About the Role:
The Financial Director will oversee all financial management across the company, including budgeting, FP&A, accounting oversight, cash flow planning, investor relations, and financial strategy for hardware production and global distribution. This is a highly cross-functional role that partners closely with the CEO, COO, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and sales teams to ensure operational and financial excellence.
We're looking for a leader who can operate both strategically and tactically, someone comfortable working in a high-growth hardware startup environment where processes must be built, optimized, and scaled.
Responsibilities:
⨠ Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and lead the overall financial strategy, ensuring alignment with the company's business goals and product roadmap.
- Build multi-year financial models, long-term forecasts, and scenario planning frameworks.
- Advise the executive team on financial trends, risks, and growth opportunities.
⨠ Budgeting, FP&A & Reporting
- Oversee all budgeting, planning, forecasting, and monthly/quarterly reporting.
- Build robust unit economics, cost models, and margin analysis for hardware and software lines.
- Define and track KPIs across sales, production, supply chain, and marketing.
⨠ Accounting & Compliance
- Oversee accounting operations (internal and/or external), closing cycles, and compliance.
- Maintain financial hygiene across global entities (e.g., EU, US, China).
- Ensure compliance with tax, audit, and statutory requirements in all relevant jurisdictions.
⨠ Cash Flow & Capital Management
- Manage cash flow, working capital, treasury, and liquidity.
- Support fundraising, investor due diligence, board reporting, and cap table oversight.
- Lead the creation, refinement, and delivery of investment materials, including financial narratives, investor updates, and investment decks.
- Prepare and present financials and strategic updates for investor meetings, pitch sessions, and board-level discussions.
- Evaluate financing options and manage banking relationships.
⨠ Hardware Manufacturing & Supply Chain Finance
- Build and optimize cost structures for hardware production and logistics.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations on BOM optimization, supplier terms, and manufacturing economics.
- Implement financial controls for procurement, inventory, and manufacturing operations.
⨠ Process & System Development
- Establish scalable financial processes, controls, and tools suitable for a fast-growing hardware company.
- Implement financial systems and automation to support operational efficiency.
- Grow and lead the finance team as the company scales.
Requirements:
- 8 - 12+ years of progressive finance leadership experience; Financial Director, CFO or VP Finance experience preferred.
- Strong background in hardware, consumer electronics, manufacturing, or supply chain finance.
- Proven track record in FP&A, forecasting, modeling, and building financial systems from scratch.
- Experience working with international operations (EU/US/China).
- Excellent understanding of hardware unit economics, BOM optimization, COGS, and supply chain cost structures.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Comfort operating both strategically and hands-on.
- English fluency required.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with fundraising, investor relations, and managing board-level reporting.
- Background in gaming, entertainment hardware, or modular electronics.
- Experience collaborating with R&D/engineering teams on product cost strategy.
- Familiarity with financial modeling for hardware + digital ecosystem businesses.
