 The EHS officer is responsible for supporting management in all functional levels and subcontractors in all aspects, questions and measures for improving the overall work safety situation within the respective location.

KEY RESPORNSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that the  corporate  EHS  Policy  is  introduced  for  all  employees  and  sub-contractors’ employees  and implemented within the sphere of activity.
  • Implement control measures which are defined in the risk assessments and are appropriate for the activities undertaken in area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that all employees in his/her area of responsibility are medically fit to perform the tasks assigned to them. Usable records shall be kept
  • Issue EHS instructions to employees and sub-contractors’ employees and keep usable records.
  • Provide induction training for visitors and site employees working in his area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that all employees and employees of external companies in his/her areas of responsibility are given adequate and continuous supervision, particularly where young, inexperienced employees are concerned.
  • Ensure that all accidents and near misses are reported and that reporting is in accordance with the requirements of the incident investigation procedures.
  • Respond promptly to reports of defects in equipment, protection or safety systems which pose a potential health and safety risk to employees or suppliers’ employees and ensure that unsafe equipment is withdrawn from use or its use prevented in some other way, until it can be restored to a safe condition or replaced.
  • Maintain good standards of order and cleanliness in his/her area of responsibility
  • Leads and coordinates with sub-contractor EHS supervisors
  • Responsible for toolbox talks and regular EHS meetings on site.
  • Giving safety instruction at the working site
  • Providing support to the site manager in monitoring coordination/supervision of activities relevant to safety.
  • Monitoring the provision and correct handling and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure compliance of inspection intervals for tools, lifting gear and other technical equipment.
  • Ensure compliance of inspection intervals for first aid, alarm and fire protection equipment 

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE /HAVE:

  • Degree in a relevant subject from reputable university is required with several years’ relevant work experience.
  • Technical qualifications refer to professional training, preferably professional EHS experience in Mobility business and railways projects
  • The position holder is required to have the necessary technical and personal skills to perform their tasks; personal skills refer to reliability, self-assertion and initiative.
  • Be fully familiar with EHS processes and implementation
  • Very good formal and informal communication, presentation and analytical skills
  • Very good English command in addition to a well-developed reporting and business writing skills.
  • Track record of professional training and experience requirements in the context of Environmental Protection, Health management and Safety.
  • The candidates must be certified as WORKSITE SAFETY AND HEALTH OFFICER (WSHO) covering the main business areas that includes but not limited to:    
  1.    Awareness of lifting.
  2.    Work at height and scaffold safety.
  3.   Working in Confined spaces.
  4.    Excavation and trenching
  5.    Electrical safety.
  6.    Power tools and machinery.
  7.    Firefighting and first aid principles.
  8.    Knowledge on local EHS rules/ regulations and law
