In this role, you will oversee multiple research projects from start to finish—defining both the key questions and the methodologies—while converting complex data into actionable insights that drive global health impact. You will evolve beyond an individual contributor role to help set research direction and strengthen team capabilities.
We are seeking a rigorous and inquisitive researcher who can independently lead complex workstreams, mentor junior team members, and serve as a senior technical voice. Your work may span data science, behavioural insights, and primary research, aligned with your areas of expertise.
Location: New Delhi, India | Travel: Up to 10%
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute high-impact research end-to-end across a wide range of activities—from advanced analytics and literature reviews to study design, development of new data sources, and the creation of clear, insight-led outputs that inform decision-making in global health setting
- Define and guide the team's research agenda and methodological approach by introducing and scaling innovative analytical techniques, tools, and data sources—particularly by building strong analytics frameworks and leading end-to-end analyses using emerging AI-driven pipelines
- Mentor and support junior researchers and analysts by establishing high-quality standards, reviewing deliverables, and contributing to their ongoing development and capability building
- Drive innovation in advancing health equity by taking ownership of your work, thoughtfully experimenting, and applying creativity alongside technical expertise to generate insights that improve outcomes for underserved communities
- Collaborate cross-functionally to amplify impact, working closely with product, data, and stakeholder-facing teams to design and deliver data- and AI-enabled solutions that address complex health challenges in resource-constrained environments
- Contribute to the organisation's external presence through engagements, knowledge-sharing platforms, publications, and collaborations with a wide network of stakeholders across the global health ecosystem
Qualification & Requirements:
- 7+ years of hands-on experience leading end-to-end data analysis and programming with health-related datasets, including work in low- and middle-income contexts, with a strong track record of independently driving complex research projects from design through to delivery
- Proven experience mentoring or managing junior researchers, setting methodological standards, and reviewing outputs to ensure quality and rigour
- Strong proficiency in R (Python is a plus), along with experience in version control and an interest in working with large-scale data platforms
- Solid experience in natural language processing (NLP) and/or qualitative analysis, including working with unstructured data such as open-ended survey responses, thematic coding, text classification, and structuring text for analysis
- Deep grounding in applied statistics, with the ability to translate complex analyses into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong understanding of how behavioural factors—such as beliefs, attitudes, and barriers—shape health-related outcomes
- A PhD in a relevant field (e.g., public health, economics, engineering, or related disciplines) is preferred; equivalent senior-level research or analytical experience will also be considered
- Demonstrated experience producing external research outputs, such as publications, presentations, technical reports, or knowledge pieces for diverse stakeholders
- Prior experience in global health research, along with flexibility to travel as required
- Additional language proficiency (e.g., French) is a plus
- A collaborative approach paired with the confidence to contribute informed perspectives and constructively challenge ideas, including in senior forums
- Comfort working in fast-paced, evolving environments, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution
