About the job Finance Controller
The position is the most senior person within Finance, responsible for all the financial matters, reporting to the local CFO. This position is responsible for, but not limited to:
- Ensuring compliance to meet corporate headquarters' needs, adhering to all external compliance requirements of the Government, and auditors. Banks in India and ensuring compliance with Indian GAAP, etc
- Ensure completion of yearly group and company audit
- Leading internal controls improvement work by ensuring documentation and adequate processes are in place
- Being the owner of the ERP system Zoho/ Tally, so that data is input into the system 'right' from the beginning in accordance with operational requirements and Indian GAAP
- Lead and prepare regular analytical financial reports and financial statements for the Group for consolidation and reports to local management
Hands-on Operational & Financial Responsibilities
- Statutory Compliance related to financial statements, GST, taxable income, and ensure timely hands-on reconciliation and payments of taxes and filing of annual returns, and hands-on TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) reconciliation and checking
- Financial Reporting and Audits: Bookkeeping and Accounting - Maintaining accurate books of accounts in our ERP system in line with the operations and ensuring they also comply with Indian Accounting Standards and group financial standards for timely monthly reporting and statutory audit
- Coordinate regulatory and statutory filings and documentation with our partners & legal personnel (include but not limited to ROC, MGT, AOC-4, etc.), AGM
- Detailed cashflow reporting on expenditure at the project level
- Ownership of the ERP system, including setting up the system in the 'right way' for effective cost follow-up
- Lead the fixed asset register reconciliation with the General Ledger
- Timely execution of payments for invoices, payroll within the organisation, and ensuring bank reconciliations are performed monthly
- Hands-on reconciliation for group-related party transactions calculation, invoicing, and bookkeeping in line with transfer pricing and group instructions.
- Improve internal control processes across the operations, ensuring proper approvals, procedures are adhered to, and documentation is available for audit
- Responsible for timely monthly, quarterly & year-end closing, including reconciliations
- Lead standardization, improvements & automation of financial processes for efficiency
Qualifications and Technical Skills Required
- Chartered Accountant with 12-20 years of technical accounting knowledge of India GAAP, and have strong hands-on bookkeeping experience
- Strong knowledge of local tax and local statutory compliance requirements
- Understanding of project cost accounting
- Should have an eye for details and be able to roll up sleeves and execute the operational responsibilities themself
- Strong knowledge of foreign currency regulation and the requirements of Indian banking requirements
- Should have a strong track record of improving internal controls & compliance for audit
- Should have solid knowledge and hands-on experience of working in an ERP system like Zoho and Tally
- Good communication in English and strong people management skills
- Possess good reporting, presentation skills, and organizational skills with international group reporting experience
