About the job Project Manager
About the role:
We are hiring a mission-driven, execution-focused Project Manager for a leading multidisciplinary research and civic-tech organization working at the intersection of data, public policy, and climate resilience.
This role will lead operational delivery and partner coordination for a high-impact, 3-year donor-funded climate resilience project including data-driven coastal resilience and disaster risk reduction initiatives.
This is a partner-facing, operations-heavy role responsible for holding project execution together across three primary implementation states: Odisha, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. You will oversee project planning, track deliverables across technical and research teams, manage donor/government reporting, organize field consultations, and troubleshoot operational bottlenecks to ensure seamless execution.
Roles & Responsibilities
Project Execution & Operational Delivery:
- Lead end-to-end operational planning and execution from kickoff through mid-project reviews to closure.
- Set up and maintain agile project boards (e.g., ClickUp, Asana) to track milestones, deliverables, timelines, and budgets across multidisciplinary research, tech, and policy teams.
- Organize regular stand-ups, retrospectives, and version management reviews in coordination with product and domain leads.
Partner & Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as the primary operational point of contact for external partners, donor entities, and state/national government stakeholders.
- Ensure high-quality, timely submission of progress reports, documentation, and compliance materials required by funding partners.
- Facilitate regular updates, meetings, and consultations to keep all external and internal partners aligned
Field Coordination & Travel:
- Travel across target implementation states (Odisha, Kerala, Tamil Nadu) and Delhi NCR for field consultations, partner workshops, and ground-level troubleshooting.
- Maintain active touchpoints with state-level partners to gather feedback and resolve operational challenges promptly.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 3–6 years of professional experience in project management, operations, or program execution within climate action, disaster risk reduction (DRR), public policy, or social development.
- Demonstrated track record of managing multi-stakeholder projects, tracking deliverables using modern project management software (e.g., ClickUp, Asana, Jira), and delivering strictly within deadlines.
- Prior experience engaging with state/central government departments or development sector partners in India.
- Strong partner-facing communication and reporting skills, with the ability to interface confidently with government officials, institutional partners, and internal technical teams.
- Sound working knowledge of climate action, environmental policy, or sustainability domains, with a strong willingness and capacity to quickly learn coastal resilience and marine ecosystem frameworks on the job.
- Ability to handle dynamic project environments, manage competing priorities, and resolve operational friction independently.
- Willingness to travel frequently to project implementation states as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postgraduate degree in Public Policy, Development Studies, Environmental Management, Project Management, Social Sciences, or related disciplines
- Familiarity or prior exposure to coastal ecosystems, climate adaptation, or data-driven public-interest tools.
