Role Overview
The Manager – Individual Giving, Digital & Donor Engagement will build and scale a diversified individual donor program combining digital fundraising, mid-level donor cultivation, and innovative engagement strategies. This role focuses on acquiring, retaining, and upgrading individual supporters while leveraging digital channels and data-driven marketing. The ideal candidate brings digital marketing expertise, mass fundraising experience, and a growth mindset.
Location: Kolkata - Hybrid (The candidate will be required to be based in Kolkata for the first 6 months to gain an in-depth understanding of the organisation and its work, while actively contributing to fundraising efforts)
Key Responsibilities
Individual Giving Strategy & Execution
- Develop and execute a comprehensive individual giving strategy to achieve ₹5–6 Cr annual revenue target
- Build diversified revenue streams: online campaigns, recurring giving, mid-level donors (₹1–10 lakh), fundraising events
- Set acquisition, retention, and upgrade targets across donor segments
- Test and optimize fundraising appeals, channels, and messaging
Digital Fundraising & Marketing
- Lead digital fundraising campaigns across email, social media, website, and online platforms
- Manage online donation platforms, payment gateways, and donor CRM systems
- Develop compelling digital content (videos, stories, impact updates) to drive donor engagement and conversion
- Leverage SEO, SEM, social advertising, and influencer partnerships to expand reach
- Analyze digital campaign performance and optimize based on data insights
Mid-Level Donor Cultivation
- Identify and cultivate mid-level donors (₹1–10 lakh annual giving) through personalized outreach
- Design tiered giving circles and recognition programs to incentivize upgrades
- Conduct donor meetings, calls, and virtual engagement sessions to deepen relationships
- Create customized impact reporting for mid-level supporters
Donor Retention & Engagement
- Build robust donor stewardship programs to maximize retention and lifetime value
- Develop recurring giving program (monthly/quarterly donors) with retention focus
- Create year-round engagement calendar (newsletters, impact updates, virtual events, volunteer opportunities)
- Implement lapsed donor reactivation campaigns
Events & Community Fundraising
- Plan and execute fundraising events (virtual and in-person) to engage supporters and drive revenue
- Launch peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns and ambassador programs
- Build grassroots fundraising communities in key cities
Data & Analytics
- Maintain accurate donor database; ensure data hygiene and segmentation
- Track and report on fundraising KPIs (acquisition cost, retention rate, average gift, lifetime value)
- Conduct donor analysis to identify trends and opportunities
- Implement A/B testing and continuous optimization
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with Head of Fundraising & Partnerships to align individual giving strategy with organizational goals
- Partner with program teams to gather impact stories and donor-facing content
- Coordinate with communications/PR team on brand messaging and content development
Qualifications
Experience
- 5–8 years in individual giving, digital fundraising, or growth marketing
- Proven track record of building and scaling donor acquisition and retention programs
- Hands-on experience with digital marketing tools, CRM systems, and fundraising platforms
- Prior experience in education, social impact, or mission-driven organizations preferred
- Demonstrated success in hitting revenue targets through multi-channel campaigns
Skills & Competencies
- Strong digital marketing skills: email marketing, social media, content creation, paid advertising
- Data-driven mindset with proficiency in analytics and campaign optimization
- Excellent storytelling and copywriting skills; ability to craft compelling donor appeals
- Project management skills with ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously
- Creative thinking and willingness to experiment with new fundraising approaches
Technical Proficiency
- Experience with CRM/fundraising platforms (Salesforce, DonorPerfect, Razorpay, Ketto, or similar)
- Proficiency in email marketing tools (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.)
- Familiarity with Google Analytics, Meta Ads Manager, and digital marketing tools
- Comfortable with data analysis and reporting (Excel/Google Sheets)
Educational Background
- Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience fundraising for education or grassroots development organizations
- Understanding of India's individual giving landscape and donor motivations
- Familiarity with global fundraising trends and digital best practices
- Network within India's social impact/philanthropy ecosystem
