Summary:
The Partnerships and Development Lead, India, is a role for a talented and ambitious climate policy and development professional to join their dynamic team in New Delhi.
Climate Group thrives on the strength of their networks and partnerships nurtured for years with corporates, government, Philanthropic and civil society organisations. This role will expand collaboration and partnership with these stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives in India.
This is a full-time position for 24-months initially, starting as soon as possible, based in Climate Group's New Delhi office.
About the Role:
Corporate membership income and philanthropic funding is crucial to their climate programs and allied initiatives in India. The new Partnership and Development Lead will enable them to build on these achievements by investing in their strongest income streams, while also exploring alternative avenues including domestic philanthropy and other revenue models led through competitive bidding. The ideal candidate will bring experience of generating income from these sources, and a good understanding of their decision-making processes.
The role holder will report to the Executive Director in India. Key internal relationships will be held at multiple levels within the organisation, both in region and in Climate Groups London office.
Working closely and proactively with these stakeholders, the Partnerships and Development Lead, India, is expected to support research and analyse opportunities, develop/monitor partner and donor engagement plans, and manage ideation and development processes through from the cultivation stage to finalising the project.
Key Responsibilities:
Development and Fundraising
- Lead the development and implementation of a regional strategy focused on diversifying income streams and building valuable partnerships that align with their funding strategies and programmatic priorities.
- Work closely with their Development and Programme teams to meet deadlines for cultivation and proposals, ensuring successful funding opportunities for their India-based programs.
- Partner with the Development team to guide and assist programme managers and non-development colleagues in bid development, funder reporting, and relationship stewardship.
- Provide vital research support to their global Development team, with a focus on identifying prospective funders in India and South Asia.
Partnerships
- Forge new, strategic partnerships with senior stakeholders across business, government, civil society, and think tanks, tapping into the vast network of climate leaders and the broader ecosystem.
- Seek out valuable partnership opportunities beyond funding and connect them to the relevant teams within Climate Group. This includes collaborating with national and state agencies, civil society organizations, and technical experts to advance ongoing and future programs.
- Develop engaging content for initial outreach to potential partners, including persuasive written communications, impactful PowerPoint presentations, and other materials that drive interest and action.
- Contribute to the planning and growth of new partnerships and initiatives for Climate Group, including major programs and campaigns that align with global impact goals and resource plans.
Research and Intelligence
- Prospect research at both a company and individual level, with findings feeding into shaping propositions and outreach strategies for various teams across Climate Group.
- Lead on initial outreach to new potential partners, tracking and sharing intelligence gathered using their CRM, and using this to suggest practical next steps to progress C-Suite level relationship development.
- Support the development of targeted client value propositions, including preparation for client meetings.
- Work closely with their Global Research, Innovation and Impact Team (GRIIT) to explore key topics and themes of interest that could form the basis for future Climate Group programmatic work.
- Adopt Climate Group best practices for funder engagement, feeding back regularly to program teams.
- Propose and engage in a variety of events and activities thoughtfully representing Climate Group and enabling them to deepen their networks.
About You:

- Proven experience in fundraising, business development or partnerships, with a track record of securing funding from corporates, philanthropic organisations, or public sector donors.
- Strong understanding of the climate or sustainability landscape in India/South Asia, including the roles of government, private sector, civil society, and philanthropic actors
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, ideally including corporates, funders, and policymakers, with confidence in influencing and relationship-building at C-suite or equivalent level
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling proposals, presentations, and partner communications tailored to different audiences
- Strategic thinking and planning skills, with experience developing and implementing partnership or fundraising strategies aligned to wider organisational goals
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and assess funding or partnership opportunities and translate insight into action
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams, departments, and regions, and to manage multiple projects or workstreams effectively.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken, with high attention to detail.
Location:
You'll be based in their New Delhi office and will enjoy the benefits of flexible and hybrid working: 2 days in the office and 3 days from home.
The role will require occasional international travel.
