About the job Manager - Climate Finance
About the Role:
On behalf of one of our client organizations, Arthan is hiring a mid-career Climate Finance professional to support a leading advisory firm focused on decarbonizing sectors such as power, mobility, commodity value chains, and the circular economy. The professional will play a key role in translating climate goals into implementable finance structures, bringing expertise in blended finance, project structuring, and investor engagement.
You will work closely with top leadership and cross-sectoral teams to design innovative finance mechanisms that bridge the public, private, and philanthropic capital for scalable climate solutions.
Specific finance skills:
- Demonstrated expertise in project finance with debt equity structures, preferably in small to mid-sized renewable energy/ mainstream projects.
- Good understanding of project finance, payment security mechanisms, collaterals, and sources of such funding available from DFIs (Nabard, SIDBI), public and private sector banks, and philanthropic capital (not mandatory)
- Access to impact investors from India and outside, with a clear understanding of regulatory requirements for foreign currency transactions and repatriation.
- Experience in launching AIF I/ II funds or launching NBFCs (not mandatory)
Additional skills:
- Ability to impart knowledge and training to the rest of the team on climate finance taxonomy, ability to network in the debt, equity, and impact investment space, with a zeal to conclude program implementation with specific targets.
Main functions and responsibilities:
- Guide project and program (multiple small projects) structuring involving not-for-profits and the private sector
- Create pitch decks and drive discussions with impact investors
- Conceptualise blended finance facilities, including structured approaches towards program designs, investment analysis, and finalising contracts (including debt servicing)
- Impart knowledge and training to the rest of the team on climate finance taxonomy
- Build relationships in the debt, equity, and impact investment space
- Assist the organization in supporting an existing cleantech equity fund or launching our own fund.
- Reporting structure: Expected to work closely with the top leadership, including the MD, Project Director, CFO, and Sr Finance Advisor, also supporting our thematic leaders in conceiving new initiatives towards implementation.
Candidate background:
- Finance professional with 8-10 years of relevant experience. Professional background: Banking, finance, and fund management. Should be at a mid-career level.
- Preferred qualifications- CA/ CFA/ MSc or Phd in Economics or Finance.
- Preferred/Nice to have: Experience in climate/climate finance. Experience in launching AIF I/ II funds or launching NBFCs.
- Experience working with a Multilateral Development Bank or Development Finance Institution, NABARD, SIDBI, public/ private sector bank, and impact investors.
