Role Overview:

The Senior Manager Monitoring & Evaluation will lead the strategic planning, implementation, and enhancement of robust M&E systems across programs and thematic areas. This role requires a strong focus on data strategy, impact measurement, team development, and cross-functional collaboration. The incumbent will play a critical role in embedding a culture of data-driven decision-making, ensuring high-quality reporting, and supporting program innovation and donor engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Framework Development:

  • Lead the design and implementation of M&E strategy, frameworks, and systems for all projects and verticals.
  • Develop log frames, results frameworks, KPIs, Theories of Change, and outcome measurement strategies
  • Align M&E systems with donor requirements, organizational impact goals, and field realities
  • Facilitate evidence-based decision-making and adaptive learning across projects and teams

Research, Evaluation & Insights:

  • Design and execute needs assessments, baseline, midline, endline, and impact evaluations.
  • Conduct and synthesize secondary research to inform program strategies.
  • Ensure high-quality data collection, validation, and analysis through in-house teams or external agencies.
  • Generate insights from M&E data to inform policy advocacy, resource mobilization, and program refinement.

Capacity Building & Team Leadership:

  • Train, mentor, and manage M&E staff and support project teams in integrating M&E into day-to-day work.
  • Build the capacity of external data collection agencies on M&E tools and standards.
  • Drive a culture of learning, reflection, and accountability within and across verticals.

Data Management & Reporting:

  • Build and maintain centralized, technology-enabled MIS platforms for real-time data collection and monitoring.
  • Develop and disseminate dashboards, briefs, and infographics for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain a comprehensive repository of M&E tools, reports, databases, and field documentation.

Field Support & Quality Assurance:

  • Undertake regular field visits to monitor project progress, support field teams, and validate data quality.
  • Provide strategic and operational support to ensure implementation is aligned with M&E expectations
  • Help internal teams internalize M&E processes, enabling real-time monitoring and corrective actions.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Support resource mobilization by contributing to proposals, sharing data-driven evidence, and attending donor discussions.
  • Present M&E findings, strategies, and impact evidence at internal reviews, donor meetings, and external forums.
  • Build and sustain relationships with government departments and technical partners to align on monitoring practices.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with vertical leads to co-design and operationalize M&E systems aligned with thematic goals.
  • Collaborate with communications, partnerships, and finance teams to integrate and leverage data for storytelling and compliance.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong skills in M&E strategy design, research methods, statistical tools, and data interpretation
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience in building M&E systems within CSR or development sector contexts.
  • Ability to manage teams, vendors, and stakeholders across multiple geographies.
  • Proficiency in tools like Excel, Power BI/Tableau, SPSS/STATA/R, survey platforms (ODK, Kobo, SurveyCTO), and MIS platforms.

Qualifications:

  1. Graduate/Postgraduate in Development Studies, Public Policy, Statistics, Economics, or related fields.
  2. 8- 10 years of relevant work experience, with at least 5 years in core M&E leadership roles (preferably in CSR or nonprofit sector).
  3. Fluency in English and Hindi; knowledge of Kannada is preferred.
  4. Willingness to travel to project locations and field sites as required.
