Job Description Manager - Engagement and Research (Energy Transition India)
Location: India (preferably New Delhi)
Reporting to: Strategic Advisor Power Markets and Technology Innovation

Our partner organisation catalyses corporate change to address Asias sustainable development challenges. It runs collaborative engagement programs across the region, assembling coalitions of investors to address strategic sustainability issues and using dialogue and shareholder escalation tools to shift the mindsets of senior decision-makers across finance and industry.

The organisation comprises a team of highly motivated professionals with a range of backgrounds and disciplines who help to drive change. Its activities include running investor-backed engagement programmes and producing high-grade research on sustainability themes and management by Asian listed companies. It works on financed emissions, energy-related industries, and food and agricultural systems. The head office is in Singapore with a team of approximately 30 employees and consultants across three locations in Asia.

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and purpose-driven Manager, Engagement and Research to support our partner organisations Energy Transition Platform (ETP) work in India. This newly created role will combine strategic corporate and financial sector engagement with rigorous research and benchmarking responsibilities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Strategic Advisor Power Markets and Technology Innovation and collaborate with regional teams to advance the energy transition agenda in India, focusing on key sectors such as energy, finance, and heavy industry.

The role will suit a self-starter with strong relationship-building skills, excellent research capabilities, and a passion for driving sustainability and decarbonisation in India.

Duties & Responsibilities

Engagement and Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with Indian energy companies, financial institutions, regulators, and investors.
  • Arrange and lead engagement meetings with corporate stakeholders to promote climate action and corporate transition strategies.
  • Tailor investor-backed engagement materials to suit Indian corporate contexts and policy frameworks.
  • Support coordination of investor engagement efforts under the Energy Transition Platform in India.

Research and Analysis

  • Develop detailed company profiles, policy analyses, and sectoral research focused on the Indian energy and finance ecosystem.
  • Conduct benchmarking of Indian corporates and banks against climate transition indicators.
  • Maintain data accuracy and analytical rigor in all research outputs.
  • Contribute to cross-country and regional research initiatives in collaboration with teams in Singapore and China.

Knowledge Management and Strategy

  • Track developments in Indias regulatory, financial, and industry landscape relevant to energy transition and ESG risks.
  • Maintain and update internal databases on company engagement, policy movements, and market intelligence.
  • Support development of strategic thought leadership in India by identifying opportunities for influence.

Communications and Advocacy

  • Draft blog posts, op-eds, presentations, and social media content to support visibility and advocacy.
  • Represent the organisation at relevant industry forums, conferences, and stakeholder consultations.
  • Contribute to funding proposals and reports related to India-focused programming.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5-7 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, climate finance, energy, investment, policy, or related fields.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in economics, environmental studies, business, public policy, or a relevant discipline from a premier Indian or international institution.
  • Experience in research, analysis, and/or corporate engagement in Indias energy or financial sectors.
  • Familiarity with ESG frameworks, sustainable finance, or climate-related financial disclosures is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of how environmental and climate issues relate to business and financial risk in India.
