Our partner organisation has been working in Punjab since 2018, creating global models for social change by engaging with communities. It is committed to improving the lives of children, youth, women, and the environment by making significant social, cultural, and economic investments in three thematic areasenvironment and sustainability, youth development, and womens empowerment.

Working in close collaboration with rural communities and administration, the organisation has impacted the lives of 2.4 million people in more than 2,400 villages in Punjab through various on-the-ground programmes such as The Billion Tree Project, Learn Labs, and Waste Management.

About the role:

We are seeking a passionate and strategic leader to drive our womens equity program. The Lead, Womens Equity Program will develop and implement programs that empower women, advocate for gender-inclusive policies, and foster partnerships that amplify our impact. This role requires a visionary leader with expertise in gender equity, program development, and community engagement.

In this position with our partner organisation, you will be responsible for strategizing, directing, and developing the womens equity, livelihood, and health programs in line with the organisations vision. This is an exciting role wherein you will design and deploy programs to enable a healthy, self-reliant, and progressive rural ecosystem that supports, enables, and empowers women & adolescent girls in Punjab.

What you'll do:

  • Create the roadmap and strategy for our partner organizations' Her Punjab pillar that enables high social impact on the ground with clear objectives based on a shared vision of desired outcomes in the domains of women's economic empowerment, health, and other related areas.
  • Create and design programs to implement the strategy, leading to measurable change in the status of women in Punjab, with emphasis on their financial self-reliance, health and hygiene issues, and access to pertinent social schemes.\
  • Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with grassroots organizations, community leaders, and beneficiaries to ensure programs align with real needs.
  • Project Management: Structure, plan, coordinate, and monitor the implementation of project activities in line with the roadmap and AOP, including building teams, managing people, budgets, and contracts
  • Facilitate an ecosystem to equip, enable, and upskill rural women to support themselves by creating sustainable livelihoods. Deploy end-to-end sustainable and scalable business model(s), run by women as individuals and/or collectives.
  • Collaborate and create synergies with pertinent private, corporate, and government organizations, as well as internal/external stakeholders, to augment the scope and impact of programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure capacity building and growth of teams through guidance, mentoring, and enabling a supportive work environment.
  • Contribute towards the organizations overall thought leadership by strengthening systems & processes.
  • Leverage subject matter expertise to provide supervision, guidance, and technical leadership to team members on leading practices and trends, incorporating this knowledge into project proposals and the evolution of new programs/initiatives.
  • Assess the impact of programs and initiatives to continuously improve processes and outcomes based on feedback and learning. Establish impact measurement frameworks to assess program effectiveness and make data-driven improvements.
  • Work with the development team to secure funding through grants, corporate sponsorships, and donor engagement.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Public Policy, Business, or equivalent with 12 - 15 years of relevant experience in the social impact sector or in leading consulting/advisory engagements, with at least 3 - 5 years in a leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of gender and social inclusion issues with demonstrated expertise in Gender Equality & Social Inclusion (GESI) mainstreaming in the social impact and development sector
  • Knowledge of the development landscape in India and globally, including an in-depth awareness of the roles of various stakeholders (government, academia, institutions, foundations, non-profits, and corporate organizations).
  • Strong background in program design, implementation, and impact assessment.
  • Ability to work at and navigate all levels of an organization, driving decisions and direction through influence, including executive and senior business stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with strong project management, interpersonal, and leadership skills with the ability to quickly establish credibility.
  • Able to think of the Big Picture while paying close attention to details and synthesizing information into a global context.
  • Ability to work autonomously to investigate and present solutions that solve complex problems quickly and effectively in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • Proven ability to build programs and teams from scratch and take them to scale.
  • Outstanding leadership capabilities, with the ability to communicate a compelling vision and drive results while developing a strong team.
  • Able to collaborate with and adapt to a multi-cultural working environment and engage with diverse national and international partners.
  • Willing and able to travel to villages.
