About the Role

A leading international development organization is seeking a Scientist to advance sustainable livestock and dairy initiatives in India. The role focuses on strengthening rural livelihoods through improved agricultural and dairy practices, with an emphasis on rigorous scientific research, stakeholder collaboration, and field implementation.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating at the intersection of science, policy, and practice — translating technical insights into practical solutions that benefit farming communities and the broader sector.

Roles & Responsibilities

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary research projects across the livestock and dairy sectors in India, building technical and research capacity.
  • Serve as a liaison between the organization and partners, ensuring alignment on strategic priorities.
  • Facilitate knowledge exchange between India-based and global teams.

Technical Capacity Building

  • Support the development and implementation of livestock and dairy initiatives, drawing on scientific expertise.
  • Contribute to landscape assessments of sector challenges in target geographies to inform problem identification and solution design.
  • Provide analysis to inform decision-making on integrated agriculture, water, and food security projects.

Stakeholder & Partner Engagement

  • Build and sustain relationships with research institutions, industry bodies, implementation partners, and government agencies.
  • Represent the organization at relevant in-person and virtual meetings, workshops, and sector events across India.

Project Management

  • Track project timelines and deliverables, ensuring timely completion and quality of outputs.
  • Prepare regular progress updates and reports for key stakeholders.

Communications & Knowledge Management

  • Contribute to peer-reviewed publications, white papers, blog posts, and other internal and external communications.
  • Support development of reports and materials to showcase project progress and impact.
