About the Role: 

Our client, a fast-growing organization in the vocational and technical education ecosystem, is looking to hire a Head – Learning & Development to lead the design, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of technical skilling programs. The role will focus on building high-quality, industry-aligned training programs while ensuring strong academic governance, trainer capability, and scalable learning delivery models across multiple training locations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Strategy & Development
  • Develop the overall curriculum roadmap for technical skilling programs.
  • Conduct industry research to identify emerging technologies and skill gaps.
  • Design competency frameworks, learning pathways, and course structures aligned with industry requirements.
  • Oversee development of instructional materials including lesson plans, trainer guides, learner handbooks, labs, projects, and assessments.
  • Ensure programs meet relevant industry and regulatory standards.
2. Program Quality & Academic Excellence
  • Define and monitor program performance metrics such as completion rates, certification outcomes, learner satisfaction, and placement readiness.
  • Conduct periodic curriculum reviews to keep programs aligned with evolving technology trends.
  • Establish structured assessment frameworks including theory, practical, and project-based evaluations.
  • Work with internal teams to maintain consistent delivery standards across training locations.
3. Trainer Management & Capability Building
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop technical trainers.
  • Design and implement a Train-the-Trainer framework for continuous trainer development.
  • Monitor trainer performance, classroom delivery, and learner feedback.
  • Build a network of subject matter experts and industry trainers.
4. Learning Delivery Leadership
  • Oversee program delivery across multiple training centres and digital learning environments.
  • Collaborate with operations teams on batch planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Support blended learning approaches combining classroom training, virtual learning, and self-paced digital modules.
  • Ensure adequate technical infrastructure and learning environments for hands-on training.
5. Industry & Employer Alignment
  • Work closely with employer engagement teams to understand evolving workforce needs.
  • Ensure programs equip learners with job-ready technical and professional skills.
  • Align course outcomes with relevant industry certifications where applicable.
6. Learning Technology & Innovation
  • Strengthen the use of technology-enabled learning platforms such as LMS and digital content systems.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools that support scalable and high-quality learning delivery.
  • Explore emerging learning technologies and digital training approaches.
7. Compliance & Documentation
  • Ensure adherence to relevant program standards, reporting requirements, and quality benchmarks.
  • Maintain documentation related to curriculum frameworks, assessments, and certifications.
  • Support audits and reviews where required.
8. Budget & Resource Management
  • Manage budgets related to curriculum development, trainers, learning tools, and infrastructure.
  • Optimize resource allocation while maintaining quality standards.
Ideal Candidate Profile: 
  • 5–8 years of experience in vocational education, technical skilling, EdTech, or enterprise learning environments.
  • MBA in HR/IR or related field from a reputed institution
  • Experience designing competency-based training programs aligned with industry requirements.
  • Strong academic governance orientation, including defining KPIs and structured assessment frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience managing trainer teams and implementing trainer development systems.
  • Exposure to multi-centre training delivery or blended learning environments.
  • Familiarity with learning technologies such as LMS platforms and digital learning tools.
  • Strong stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
