Role Summary:
The organization is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead its next phase of strategic growth and impact. The COO will provide overall leadership across strategy, operations, programs, partnerships, and organizational culture. The role calls for a dynamic leader who combines strategic foresight with operational excellence, someone who can build and scale systems, nurture strong teams, and strengthen the organizations financial and institutional sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
  • Shape and execute the organizations long-term strategic vision and growth roadmap.
  • Translate strategy into actionable operational and programmatic plans. 
  • Strengthen governance, systems, and data-driven decision-making processes.
Program & Impact Oversight
  • Ensure high-quality program design, implementation, and evaluation. 
  • Build robust monitoring and learning systems to measure effectiveness and outcomes. 
  • Foster innovation and continuous improvement across all programs.
Financial Management & Sustainability
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and internal controls. 
  • Drive financial sustainability through diversified funding and partnerships. 
  • Ensure compliance, transparency, and proactive risk management.
Partnerships & External Relations
  • Cultivate strong relationships with donors, partners, and ecosystem stakeholders. 
  • Represent the organization across forums, building visibility and influence. 
  • Strengthen the organizations brand and position as a thought leader in its domain.
People & Culture Leadership
  • Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing, values-driven team. 
  • Foster a culture of integrity, collaboration, and accountability. 
  • Invest in leadership development, talent pipelines, and organizational learning.
Operational Excellence
  • Enhance operational systems, processes, and organizational efficiency.
  • Lead change management and transformation efforts.
  • Drive data-informed decision-making and organizational resilience.
Requirements:
Professional Experience
  • 12-18 years of senior leadership experience within mission-driven organizations, social enterprises, development sector institutions, or similar complex environments.
  • Demonstrated success in strategy, operations, scaling programs, and leading large teams.
  • Experience in fundraising, partnership development, and stakeholder management.
  • Prior exposure to community-centered work or grassroots program implementation is an advantage.
