A leading Tokyo-based investment holding company is seeking a seasoned General Counsel to oversee global legal strategy, compliance, and corporate governance across its diverse international portfolio as it seeks to expand internationally. This role supports high-impact cross-border M&A, capital markets activity, and strategic investments in sectors including AI, telecoms, fintech, and mobility.  The ability to advise the board and steering committee as well as manage and delegate responsibilities to a team of lawyers is essential for your success in this position. 

Key Responsibilities

• Advise senior leadership on legal, regulatory, and risk matters

• Lead legal aspects of international investments, financings, and corporate governance

• Manage external counsel and compliance frameworks across jurisdictions

• Support board and shareholder-level matters

Requirements

12+ years experience in corporate law, with bar admission in Japan and/or a common Law jurisdiction

• Strong background in M&A, investment transactions, and international law

• Bilingual fluency (Japanese + English)

• Prior in-house counsel or law firm experience supporting high-growth or investment-driven businesses
