Job Summary:
Ascent Employment is seeking a detail-oriented and hardworking Meat Processor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing various types of meat, ensuring that products meet quality and safety standards. This role requires a strong understanding of meat processing techniques, a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meat Processing: Safely and efficiently cut, trim, debone, grind, and package various types of meat (beef, pork, lamb, etc.) according to customer specifications and company standards
- Quality Control: Inspect meat products for quality, ensuring that they meet all regulatory requirements and company guidelines
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain processing equipment such as saws, grinders, and knives, ensuring all machinery is cleaned and sanitized regularly
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring inventory levels, including tracking the amount of meat processed and reporting any discrepancies to the supervisor
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of processed meat, including weights, types, and grades, as required by company and regulatory standards
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to ensure efficient processing and meet production targets
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in meat processing or a related field is preferred
- Strong knowledge of meat cuts and processing techniques
- Ability to work in a cold environment for extended periods
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs)
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Strong communication skills
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with a typical work week of 40 hours
- Work is performed in an abattoir
- Potential for overtime during peak seasons
